Ktm duke 250 pros

1) most powerful in its class: the engine on the new 250 duke is the most powerful engine in its class. The 248.8cc, single cylinder motor is good for 30 ps at 9000 rpm and 24 nm at 7500 rpm. The engine further comes mated to a slipper clutch assisted 6-speed gearbox. This makes it the most powerful quarter liter motorcycle of india, leaving behind benelli tnt 25 and yamaha fz 25 by a considerable margin.

2) impressive design: 2017 ktm 250 duke is currently the most affordable motorcycle in the lineup that resembles the mighty ktm 1290 super duke r. The front headlight design is quite resembling but due to some cost cutting measures, they have used halogen light for the headlamp. The fuel tank is borrowed from the 390 duke and the same tank extensions are offered on the 250 duke. It even uses the same frame as the bigger duke.

3) slipper clutch: the use of slipper clutch on the ktm 250 duke makes it quite better than other bikes around its segment. This helps the rider in achieving flawless shifts in even the most terrifying traffic around the city. When the rider is in the mood of sprinting with the new 250 duke, slipper clutch helps in limiting the back torque while suddenly changing gears from higher to the lower side.

4) side mounted exhaust: 2017 ktm 250 duke comes with the same side mounted exhaust as the bigger 2017 ktm 390 duke and rc 390. This not just adds to the appeal but also enhances the exhaust note of the motorcycle. The sound becomes more mature and lesser pop can be heard through the new exhaust system. It unfortunately weighs 7 kg but the powerful engine can manage excellent performance with this added weight.

5) large fuel tank: the fuel tank on the motorcycle is 13.5 liters, making it good for more kilometers per every refill. Not just that, the fuel tank is made from steel, helping riders carry their magnetic tank bags with much ease. The fuel tank on the older version was a plastic unit and measured slightly more than 10 liters. The same is even designed to provide the best knee placement on the street fighter.

Ktm duke 250 cons

1) no abs: ktm willingly skipped the dual channel abs from the 250 duke as the same feature was available on the international spec model. They did that for cost cutting but still priced the same at inr 1,73,000 (launch price). They could have either provided the same as optional as most fans were of the view that they would go for an abs equipped version of the new duke.

2) no metzelers: the sticky metzeler tyres on the international spec version has been replaced with mrf tyres on the indian version. This is even a cost cutting feature but indians are now more specific about motorcycling and need these equipment in order to live the dream riding life. They have not even announced a version with optional metzeler tyres for the 250 duke.

3) old instrument console: 2017 ktm 250 duke comes with the same old instrument console that has been available on all ktm bikes in 2016. The new 390 duke uses an instrument console that is colored tft unit and comes with bluetooth smartphone integration. The old unit is also quite reliable but they could have used the new one for more practically.

The bike looks amazing and talking about the performance well the name ktm is enough to define that. Mileage is kind of an issue but with that much power, one can't complain about that too. The only thing I hate about the bike is the ground clearance. You can't get over huge bumps without hitting the lower part of the bike.
Overall the bike is amazing and always fun to ride.

Compared to other 250cc vehicles ktm is slightly priced on the higher side but it's definitely worth the price. The riding experience is so good the initial torque is awesome. The bike will thrive you to rev the engine always. The ground clearance is so low you face a lot of issues with speed breakers. The looks of this vehicle are awesome, especially the new headlight similar to duke 390 looks awesome. I have clocked a top speed of 150kmph. Service maintenance is quite manageable but fuel efficiency is less in the city. It gives you around 25-28 kmpl in the city and 30-32 on the highway. Make sure to go for a test ride before you buy because of the seat height you have to be at least 5’8 to handle this bike.
    Pros
    New led headlight
    Powerful engine
    Cheap to maintain
    Cons
    Doesn’t get TFT instrument cluster
    Fuel efficiency is less
    Very low ground clearance

The bike, if riding in higher gears and lower rpms up until 6000-7000 rpm will give you about 25 km/l to 27 km/l in the city and 29 km/l to 31 km/l on a highway ride. ... Looks & comfort: I feel the duke 250 speaks for itself in this area, it's the best looking bike in the market after the duke 390 according to me.

    Sukanta Baidya

The bike, if riding in higher gears and lower rpms up until 6000-7000 rpm will give you about 25 km/l to 27 km/l in the city and 29 km/l to 31 km/l on a highway ride. ... Looks & comfort: I feel the duke 250 speaks for itself in this area, it's the best looking bike in the market after the duke 390 according to me.

I didn't buy this bike at all. I took this bike on a rent to a short tour.
It was an excellent bike for tour. I had travelled around 200 kilometer at an average speed of 90-100+
It has attractive looks that black and red are so dope. It was an excellent performance by bike
Servicing the bike is the main task to maintain a bike like a model it was very good to maintain a bike

  • My honest review

    Suhaib Ahmad

The bike looks amazing and talking about the performance well the name ktm is enough to define that. Mileage is kind of an issue but with that much power, one can't complain about that too. The only thing I hate about the bike is the ground clearance. You can't get over huge bumps without hitting the lower part of the bike.
Overall the bike is amazing and always fun to ride.

  • The all rounder of ktm

    Somu

    Tips for other riders

Maintain required tyre pressure always 29 psi at the front and 32 psi at the rear. Better to service every 5000 kms after the first service. Lubricate your chain every 500km.

  • A very good bike in 250 segment

    Manoj

Pickup is very slow... It gives you ktm feel after 4000 rpm...bike design and look wise a marvelous machine...and think you own India's most powerful 250cc bike... In the city no one controls you because you can fly with this in the small gaps... ground clearance is very low so please consider this before buying.
