The Indian two-wheeler market has changed drastically over the last few years and it has changed for good. There was a time when scooters were associated with convenience and practicality only. But now, riders also want punchy engine performance in the mix. And for such Indian riders, here are the four most powerful scooters one can buy in 2022.

BMW C 400 GT

The BMW C 400 GT is not just any other scooter. It’s truly an extravaganza with a 350cc engine, Automatic Stability Control function, a 6.5-inch Bluetooth-enabled TFT screen, and a host of other features which are not available in other Indian scooters. Above all, with a power output of 33.5bhp, it’s the most powerful scooter available in our country. Of course, it also demands a hefty price tag of Rs 9.95 lakh.

Another offering that recently changed people’s perception of scooters is the new Yamaha Aerox 155. With a pit scooter-like design, the Aerox not only looks fast but also offers brisk acceleration. That’s courtesy of the 155cc engine which is borrowed from the much-hallowed YZF R15 V4. This VVA-equipped engine comes mated to a CVT system and produces 15bhp of peak power. Yamaha has priced the Aerox at Rs 1.31 lakh.

Aprilia SR 160

The Aprilia SR 160 might not be the most powerful scooter in India anymore but, it was once. In fact, it kick-started the genre of sport scooters and still remains quite an attractive proposition. Besides the impressive stability, handling dynamics, and braking power, the SR 160 packs a lot of grunt in its 160.03cc, three-valve engine that produces 10.84bhp and 11.6Nm. Available in three variants, the prices of the Aprilia SR 160 start from Rs 1.11 lakh.

Aprilia SXR 160

If you want the same engine performance as the SR 160 but in a more practical and easier-to-live-with package, the Aprilia SXR 160 is a great option. Producing identical power and torque output to the SR, it boasts a maxi-styling with generous storage space under the seat and on the front. Even the footboard is quite spacious, much more than the SR. As for the price tag, the SXR 160 sets you back by Rs 1.31 lakh.
