Triumph Street Triple 765 Competition Check

The competition in the middleweight motorcycle segment has escalated with the launch of the Triumph Street Triple 765. The motorcycle competes against the likes of Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle and the Harley Davidson Iron 833.

The newly launched Triumph Street Triple 765 is currently only available in the base ‘S’ variant while we will get the top-spec RS variant at a later date. The latest model is also lighter than the outgoing one. The Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle is offered as the top spec variant of the Scrambler line which gets a host of aesthetic updates to give it sporty appeal. The bike gets a specially designed race seat and body panels which are painted in a special black and yellow paint scheme. The Harley Davidson Iron 833 is based on the Sportster philosophy and gets a minimalistic, clutter-free design. All three bikes have their own unique characteristics, wherein the Street Triple emerges as the sportiest of the lot in a street bike format, the Scrambler Full Throttle is a café racer, while the Iron 833 is a muscular cruiser.

The Triumph Street Triple 765 is powered by a bigger 765cc, inline three-cylinder engine that generates 111bhp of power at 11,250rpm and 73Nm of torque at 9,100rpm. The Ducati Scrambler is powered by 803cc L-twin engine that generates 74bhp of power and 68Nm of torque. The Harley Davidson Iron 883 is powered by an 883cc V-twin engine, which produces 50bhp and 69Nm of torque. All three bikes are mated to a six-speed transmission. From the three, the Street Triple 765 delivers the best performance by a margin.

Speaking of features, the Triumph Street Triple 765 gets ABS, traction control, a quickshifter, and adjustable levers. The Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle is not exactly very sophisticated when it comes to electronic aids, and in fact ABS is the only safety feature which is offered as a standard fitment. The Harley Davidson Iron 833, like the Scrambler does not have many electronic aids and is limited to an LCD display in the instrument cluster which shows the gear position, revs and other details, and ABS.

The Triumph Street Triple 765 is priced at Rs 8.5 lakh. The Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle is priced at Rs 8.42 lakh, while the Harley-Davidson Iron 883 is priced at Rs 8.57 lakh. For buyers inclined towards performance, the new Street Triple 765 is the best choice, while the Scrambler and the Iron 833 are for those who like to watch the scenery go by – whether with a European café racer or an American cruiser is the only question that remains.
