KTM 390 Duke: Old vs New

KTM has taken the wraps off the latest generation of the 390 Duke in the international market. The Austrian streetfighter has undergone extensive changes for 2024 and we will address all of those in this story.

Design

The new KTM 390 Duke’s design has been altered and the bike now appears slightly more muscular and bigger. The older model’s vertically stacked LED headlight has been replaced with a new design and even the boomerang-shaped LED DRLs have made way for a new, wider-looking unit. Even the tank shrouds on the new Duke are larger and look more aggressive than before. KTM has also equipped the 2024 KTM 390 Duke with an exposed rear frame, which makes the side profile look even more enticing.

Hardware

For 2024, KTM has equipped the 390 Duke with adjustable front and rear suspension, similar to the RC 390. However, we expect it to be offered as standard in the international spec model and probably as an accessory in the KTM here. Then, the braking hardware has also been altered and the 390 Duke now comes with a new 320mm front and 240mm rear discs with dual-channel ABS. Even the chassis on the latest Duke is new and so are the wheels and tyres. The motorcycle rides on lighter bionic wheels that were introduced on the RC 390.

Engine

Powering the 2024 KTM 390 Duke is a larger 399cc, single-cylinder motor with an output of 44.2bhp with 39Nm. For reference, the older model makes 42.9bhp and 37Nm. Then, the motor comes mated to a six-speed gearbox and we expect the new bike to get a different state of tune for better power delivery.

Features

The latest 390 Duke has also been updated on the feature front. Apart from the LED illumination, it gets an updated five-inch TFT, too, that comes with Bluetooth connectivity. Moreover, the bike now sports ride modes (Rain, Street, and Track), launch control, and cornering ABS.

While KTM India is yet to make an official announcement for the 2024 390 Duke, we expect it to cost a tad more than its predecessor. Currently, the KTM 390 Duke is priced at Rs. 2.97 lakh and the updated model could cost around Rs. 3.20 to 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
