2018 Ducati Monster 821- What else can you buy

The 2018 version of the Ducati Monster 821 has arrived in India carrying a price tag of Rs 9.51 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). It directly competes with the Triumph Street Triple S and the Yamaha MT-09. However, around the 821’s price tag, you could look at nine other options that the market offers. Here is what the list looks like-

From Ducati’s stables itself, is the Scrambler Café Racer which sports a design language that harks back to racing motorcycles from the ‘60s. The bike is priced at Rs 9.32 lakhs. You could also have the Scrambler Desert Sled which is an off-road focused motorcycle equipped with 200mm suspension travel for the front and rear. It is priced at Rs 9.45 lakhs.

There also is the Scrambler Mach 2.0, based on the Scrambler Icon and gets a white, orange and yellow paint scheme. The bike is priced at Rs 8.56 lakhs. All the Scramblers are powered by the same 803cc L-twin Desmodromic engine, which delivers 75bhp and 68Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox and final chain drive.

Triumph has three modern-classic motorcycles on offer- the Bonneville T100, Bonneville T120 and Street Scrambler. While the T100 and T120 share the same styling, they are powered by different engines. The T100 gets a 900cc twin cylinder engine which develops 54bhp of power and 80Nm of torque. On the other hand, the T120 uses a bigger 1200cc twin cylinder engine that produces 79bhp and 105Nm of torque. The T100 is priced at Rs 8.54 lakhs while the T120 costs Rs 9.56 lakhs. The Triumph Street Scrambler is based on the Street Twin and is aimed at both city as well as off-roading. It is powered by the same engine as the T100 and costs Rs 8.40 lakhs.

You could also opt for the Triumph Bonneville Bobber. The single-seater motorcycle gets neo-retro styling to boost its appeal. Powering the bike is a 1200cc parallel-twin engine that puts out 76bhp and 106Nm of torque. If you want an urban cruiser, Harley Davidson offers the Iron 883 at Rs 8.95 lakhs. The bike is powered by an 883cc V-twin engine, which produces 50bhp and 69Nm of torque.

Apart from the twin-cylinder motorcycles, you could have the Kawasaki Ninja 1000, an inline-four cylinder bike. The sports tourer uses a 1043cc engine which produces 140bhp and 111Nm of torque. It is priced at Rs 9.99 lakhs.
