EICMA 2017: Triumph unveils new Tiger 800

The new Triumph Tiger 800 gets updates for the engine, electronics and bodywork along with a few additional features. The range now consists of six motorcycles- XR, XRx, XRx Low, XRT, XCx and XCA.

Mechanically, the bike’s 800cc in-line three cylinder engine is said to be more responsive, which could be accredited to the shorter first-gear ratio and a lighter exhaust system. The bike gets an updated cruise control system and six riding modes along with an additional ‘Off-Road-Pro’ mode on the XC model which enables the rider to turn off rear-wheel traction.

The bike also sports a new 5-inch TFT instrument cluster which can be controlled via handlebar mounted backlit switches and joystick-like toggles. Visually, the bike features LED headlamps along with redesigned tank side panels. It also gets a five-way adjustable windscreen and revised handlebar position for a more upright riding stance.

For 2018, the top-spec XC variants get new Brembo front brakes while the XR keeps the Nissin brake setup. The XR gets a Showa suspension setup for both ends while the XC variants get a WP suspension setup.

While prices will be revealed next month for the international market, we expect the updated Tiger 800 to reach Indian shores sometime next year.
