2023 KTM 390 Adventure X: What’s different?

The KTM 390 Adventure has been a popular choice in its category, courtesy of its various features, engine performance and overall usability. However, the Rs. 3.37 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) isn’t affordable and could leave buyers second-guessing their purchase decision. But this has now been addressed as KTM India has launched the 390 Adventure X and here’s what’s different about it.

Fewer riding aids on the 2023 KTM Adventure 390

KTM India has priced the 390 Adventure X significantly lower by cutting down the electronics package. While it does feature LED illumination and ABS, the new model misses out on a colour TFT dash, quickshifter, traction control, cornering ABS and ride-by-wire. The instrument console for the X trim is an LCD dash with a neat layout. It houses the speedometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel level readout, gear position indicator, temperature, etc. Even Bluetooth compatibility is out of the equation for the new 390 Adventure model.

Same Design, Engine and Hardware

Apart from the feature section, KTM has left the remaining bike untouched. So, the X variant features the same design with a tall stance, wide handlebar, and neutral set footpegs and comes draped in orange paint.

Even the 373.27cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve motor linked to a six-speed gearbox is the same. It dishes out 42.9bhp at 9,000rpm and 37Nm of at 7,000rpm. The slipper-clutch has also been carried over. The WP USD front forks and a 10-step preload-adjustable monoshock along with a front and rear disc with dual-channel ABS remain common for the two variants. Even the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy with block pattern tyres are carried over from the standard model to the new variant.

Colours and Price for the 2023 KTM 390 Adventure X

KTM will offer the 390 Adventure X in two paint schemes: Galactic Blue and Dark Galvano Black – with an asking price of Rs. 2.80 lakh. The X trim costs about Rs. 57,000 less than the fully-loaded version. That said, KTM India has another model on the horizon for the country. It’ll sport spoked wheels as well as fully adjustable front forks too. We expect it to launch in a month and command a small premium as well.
