This Bike never went out of style.

I purchased this bike in 2008 and it was the limited edition black with red graphics from Bhandup. At that time this colour scheme was very unique and buying was also hassle-free. It was our first bike and I can proudly say I could not have been more satisfied. Honda Unicorn is an all-rounder bike from my personal experience. The ride and build quality, mileage, fit and finish, paint job, suspension everything was top-notch. I usually commute around 80-90 km every day through the city as well as the highway. Due to its weight at high speeds on highways, it never trembled and was nimble enough for easy manoeuvrability in city traffic. The front shocks and rear Monoshock did their job pretty well on bad roads as well as in monsoon.Look it did have some major rivals back then missing out on led taillights and indictors, LCD displays and a few more yet it had some different appeal for the way it carried out itself because as soon as I hopped on it and went for a ride I clearly understood the reason for owing it also this specific colour became my favourite. The engine was very smooth as one can expect from Honda till today the engine has maintained its charateristics. The power is very linear and easy to use in city rides and after 5000 rpm the power output came strong so it had no problem in the city nor in highways. I could easily get an average of 60kmpl on highways and around 45 to 50 kmpl in city traffic which was quite satisfying considering the soaring petrol prices. The seat was broad and cushioned enough this make long rides very comfortable for both rider and pillion, the upright handlebars and seating positions eased out commuting. Honda did a very good job there with its Ergonomics. There is a helmet holder down to the left side which is a clever thing and often comes in handy. The servicing and maintenance in the early stages were as directed by the service centre and later according to our usage. The overall cost of servicing was nominal for a 150cc bike. General servicing included oil change, air and oil filter change etc which didn't cost much also the parts were of top-notch quality so the wear and tear was also minimal. It has always been reliable and robust in nature. All of them and even I suggest that periodic servicing is very essential for the bike to be smooth and efficient. Check for any unusual noises, periodic checking for coolant and engine oil, and look for the parts that have a higher wear and tear . Keep the bike well maintained for your own and other's safety.Honda's today's mid-segment bike has grown tremendously, even there are certain bikes in Honda which out perform unicorns in many aspects be it in power or aesthetics. But if had to choose any bike today in that segment i would still go for a Unicorn undoubtedly. Pros-Good built quality.Smooth and reliable engine.Good ergonomics.Low maintenance.Cons-Digital meters and led lights are missing.Certain advanced features do miss out.
