Yamaha FZ25 Long Term Report 4: Track

Track test

In the last few reports, we talked about the experience in city and in touring with the FZ25. In both conditions, the FZ25 performed well and managed to impress us in a few aspects. We decided to take it to the track to check out its racing pedigree because it’s a Yamaha after all. 

So the best time do to this was during the BikeWale Trackday at MMRT. Once the official testing and shoots were done, the FZ25 was on the track, ready to be unleashed. 

First the handling bit of the bike. The FZ25 wasn’t really built for a racetrack and that can be easily seen. The bike feels a little lazy around the corners. It doesn’t feel nimble like the other Yamahas but does the job of exiting the corner safely. The tyres too, isn’t very grippy for a track. 

While the power and torque figures of the FZ25 makes it a strong case in a track, the overall experience doesn’t. The engine feels vibey at higher rpms. The NVH isn’t up to the mark. In fact, after a few laps, the engine started to feel and sound a bit harsh. It’s the same story with the brakes. The bite isn’t much and fades away quite a bit under heavy braking.
