With the upcoming 2019 Merzouga Rally, Sherco TVS Rally Factory Team has announced its squad of riders who will be competing in the event. The squad will comprise of Michael Metge from France, Aravind KP and Abdul Wahid Tanveer from India. The rally will take place in Erfoud in Morocco and will be held from 31 March to 5 April 2019.
The Sherco TVS Rally Factory Team will be participating in two categories. While Michael Metge and Aravind KP will be competing in the 450cc category, Abdul Wahid Tanveer will contest in the Enduro category. Michael, being a Dakar veteran will be leading the Sherco TVS Rally Factory Team in this event. Aravind, on the other hand, is the only Indian to have completed the Dakar Rally 2019 besides which already has 17 national championships in his belt. Meanwhile, Tanveer has won the PanAfrica Rally 2018 in the Enduro category and a second position finish in the Rally of Morocco 2018 again in the Enduro category. Besides that, he is also the winner of the Dakar series India Baja 2018 and has completed the Merzouga Rally 2017 in Morocco. It will the third time that Sherco TVS Rally Factory Team will be participating in the Merzouga Rally.
The Merzouga Rally is an annual five-day Rally Raid that is held in Morocco. The rally takes place in the dunes of Merzouga where participants have to deal with challenging sand sections and tricky navigational sections while dealing with the high temperatures of the Moroccan desert.
