Kawasaki launches 2017 Ninja H2 range in India at Rs 33.3 lakh

The 2017 Kawasaki Ninja H2 range has been launched in India at Rs 33.3 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Apart from the base variant, the motorcycle is also available in limited edition Ninja H2 Carbon and Ninja H2R trims, which command a price tag of Rs 39.8 lakh and Rs 69.8 lakh respectively (both ex-showroom, Delhi).

The only production supercharged motorcycle on sale, the Ninja H2 is the Japanese manufacturer’s most expensive motorcycle brand sold in India. Built around on a tubular trellis frame, the H2 and H2R have heavily relied on aerodynamics to derive their aggressive designs. The partly exposed frame is painted in Kawasaki’s trademark green, while the bodywork gets  a mirror paint finish.

The Ninja H2 Carbon gets a carbon fibre upper cowl and distinctive silver mirror paint to set it apart from the ‘budget’ Ninja H2. Being produced in a limited run of just 120 units, the Ninja H2 Carbon also features a unique serial number embossed on the supercharger plate.

The Ninja H2 and Ninja H2R are powered by a 998cc inline four supercharged engine. While the former delivers 200bhp and 134Nm of torque, the track-only H2R comes with a monstrous power output of 320hp and 156Nm of torque. Suspension duties are taken care of by fully adjustable KYB units at both the ends, while the braking hardware is made up of 330mm Brembo semi-floating discs at the front and 250mm units at the rear.

The electronics package has been updated for 2017 with a new six-axis IMU, three-mode traction control, a three-mode launch control, engine brake control with KIBS intelligent braking system and a quick shifter. The Ninja H2 range also gets an updated dashboard and new Euro IV compliant exhaust system.

Apart from their limited numbers globally, the astronomical pricing of the Ninja H2 range should ensure exclusivity for the motorcycles. While it doesn’t have any real competitors, the Ninja H2 does share the market space with other expensive litre-class superbikes like the BMW S1000RR, Yamaha YZF R1, Aprilia RSV4 RF, MV Agusta F4 RC and the Ducati Panigale R.
