- Husqvarna Svartpilen 901 spotted testing
- Looks to be powered by the KTM 890 Duke R’s parallel-twin engine
A bunch of new spy shots of what looks like the Husqvarna Svartpilen 901 have surfaced on the internet. The test mule was deprived of any body panels making it difficult to suspect how it will look but a close inspection reveals that the engine is certainly based on that of the KTM 890 Duke R.
The whole structure of the engine largely resembles that of the 890 Duke’s motor, especially the crankcase design. On the KTM’s naked street bike, this 890cc, parallel-twin unit churns out 120bhp of power and 99Nm of torque. For the husky, this engine might be tuned differently in order to suit its adventure touring purpose. Besides the engine, some of the cycle parts including the swingarm and suspension setup could also be closely similar to the components in the 890 Duke.
Coming to the design, the only body panels the test mule comprised of included a headlamp cowl and a weird-looking fuel tank. This is most likely a mock setup used only for testing purpose and the final design is difficult to foresee at the moment. If all the aforementioned speculations turn out to be true, the Svartpilen 901 will join the Norden 901 ADV in Husqvarna’s portfolio. At present, the Svartpilen family of the Swedish brand comprises of the Svartpilen 701, 401 and the 250 which is already launched in India.
