Bajaj Motorcycles has set up a new business unit under the name ‘Urbanite’. This is the same brand that was rumoured to foray into electric vehicles.

The company’s top honcho, Rajiv Bajaj, announced this new unit at the AGM that was held a few days ago. Sumeet Narang will head this business unit which will focus on creating new urban mobilities for the Indian as well as international markets. 

The Pune-based manufacturer will get into the electric vehicle business. In fact, the first EV product from the company will be launched before 2020. However, the company remains tight-lipped about the exact nature of the product, whether it will be a motorcycle or a scooter. The top honcho claims that they plan to make the most beautiful two-wheeler in the world. 

We’re expecting Bajaj to first roll out an electric scooter followed by an electric motorcycle before 2020. There’s a high chance that Bajaj will set up exclusive showrooms for all the products coming out of this newly created business unit. This will help the company maintain a premium feel and brand value.
