KTM 390 Adventure: Review Image Gallery

KTM India extended its product portfolio with the launch of the new 390 Adventure in January this year. The sub-500cc adventure tourer rivals the BMW G310 GS and the Royal Enfield Himalayan in the Indian market. After testing the off-roading prowess of the 390 Adventure during the first ride review, we recently got the motorcycle for a longer duration for a proper road test. Here we bring you the excerpts from the road test of the KTM 390 Adventure along with detailed images.

The new 390 Adventure draws styling inspiration from the 790 Adventure. The 390 Adventure shares its chassis and engine with the 390 Duke naked roadster. The ADV model, however, comes with a new sub-frame and two cooling fans for the engine.

While the majority of the bodywork on the 390 Adventure is fibre, the components feel sturdy and there are hardly any panel gaps.

The motorcycle is packed with features such as a Bluetooth-enabled colour-TFT display that is similar to the unit on the 390 Duke. The 390 Adventure, however, further benefits from a turn-by-turn navigation system. The ADV also gets adjustable brake and clutch levers, a 12-volt socket and knuckle guards as standard.

Electronic aids comprise of several first-in-segment features such as lean-sensitive Traction Control, cornering ABS and a bi-directional quickshifter – all as standard.

The 390 Adventure shares its 373cc, single-cylinder engine with the 390 Duke. The motor produces the same power and torque numbers – 43bhp and 37Nm – on both motorcycles. Loads of torque is available in the mid-range. The engine, however, lacks torque in the lower end (below 4,000rpm).

The engine is paired to a six-speed transmission. The gearbox on the 390 Adventure feels clunkier than the transmission on the 390 Duke BS6.

The 390 Adventure returned a fuel economy of 25.7kmpl in the city and 28-29kmpl on the highway. With a 14.5-litre fuel tank, the bike should deliver a range of 370-400kms.

Except for engine vibrations and clunky gearbox, the KTM 390 Adventure is a great package. At Rs 2.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) or about Rs 3.5 lakhs (on-road), the new 390 Adventure is another value-for-money product from the Austrian brand.
