Hero Maestro Edge 125 to be launched in India on 13 May

- Borrows styling from its 110cc version

- To be powered by a 124cc engine similar to the Destini 125

- Expected to cost around Rs 60,000, ex-showroom

Hero Motocorp will finally launch its second 125cc scooter offering, the Maestro Edge 125 in India on 13 May.

The scooter was first unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo sporting the sharp and edgy design borrowed from its 110cc version, the Maestro Edge 110. It will be powered by the same 125cc engine that the Destini 125 uses. This motor puts out 8.7bhp of power and 10.2Nm of torque.

The scooter was first unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo sporting the same sharp and edgy design borrowed from its 110cc version, the Maestro Edge 110. The 125cc model will be powered by the same 125cc engine that does duty on the Destini 125. This motor puts out 8.7bhp of max power and 10.2Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a variomatic gearbox.

The instrumentation on the Maestro Edge 125 is likely to be a semi-digital unit which displays an analogue speedometer along with digital display for the tripmeter, fuel gauge and odometer. Also, similar to the Destini 125, the Maestro Edge 125 will come equipped with Hero’s i3S technology which automatically switches off the engine when idle and switches back on as soon as the throttle is twisted. While the scooter showcased at the Auto Expo only featured an LED tail lamp, we can expect Hero to launch the production-spec Maestro Edge 125 with LED lighting for the headlamp as well.

In terms of cycle parts, the Maestro Edge 125 will be similar to the Destini 125. The scooter will ride on alloy wheels shod with tubeless tyres. Suspension duties will be taken care of by telescopic front forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. However, unlike the Destini 125, expect Hero to offer the Maestro Edge 125 with an optional front disc brake.

The Hero Maestro Edge 125 will be positioned above the Destini 125 and is expected to demand a premium of Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 over the latter which is priced at at Rs 55,080 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base variant. In terms of competition, the scooter will go head on against the Suzuki Access 125 and Honda Activa 125 in the market.
