2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC to be launched in India on 23 May

- 1200 Scrambler launch on 23 May

- India will only get XC variant

- Loaded with latest technologies

Triumph Motorcycles India will launch their flagship modern classic scrambler, the Scrambler 1200 XC in India on 23 May.

This is the same motorcycle that we rode in Portugal late last year and came back impressed. The 1200 Scrambler is basically a adventure bike in a modern classic avatar. It belongs to the Bonneville family, but is loaded with tech and equipment that has made it a rugged and capable off-roader. This Triumph is available in two variants –XC and the XE. However, the Indian market will only get the XC variant as it will be more accessible. The XE has a seat height that might make life difficult for an average Indian. Plus, it will be quite pricey too.

The Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC is loaded with latest gadgets. It gets ride-by-wire system, torque-assist-clutch, keyless ignition, heated grips, USB charging socket and cruise control. It is also equipped with a new TFT instrument cluster that sports two design themes that can be personalised. This cluster is also home to two big and new additions –Google’s turn-by-turn navigation and GoPro integration. While the former allows you to get through a city with its friendly turn-by-turn navigation, the latter helps you capture images and videos without lifting your hands off the bar. However, the GoPro feature is yet to be fully integrated as final tests are on.

The 1200 Scrambler gets an IMU, which means there’s the presence of a cornering ABS system. There’s a traction control system (TCS), six riding modes – road, rain, sport, off-road, rider-custom and off-road pro (only available in XE). The ABS, TCS and the throttle maps settings are adjusted based on the riding modes. The bike gets its power from a re-tuned version of Triumph’s 1200c parallel-twin engine found in the Thruxton. This one makes 90bhp at 7400rpm and 110Nm at 3950rpm. This motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox.

We are expecting the 1200 Scrambler will be priced between Rs 11 lakhs and Rs 11.5 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). This will make it a few thousand rupees cheaper than the base Tiger
