Kawasaki has unveiled the 2019 W800 at the on-going EICMA show in Milan.
The retro motorcycle is available in two variants- Street and Café Racer. The W800 Street looks like the exact replica of the earlier model which was discontinued in 2016. It gets a single-piece seat, sweptback handlebars and unlike the previous version, sports chrome components for a proper retro touch. However, the bike also gets a full-LED headlight with LED DRLs and an LED tail lamp that makes it look a bit modern.
Meanwhile the Café Racer additionally gets a headlamp cowl, clip-on handlebars, tank grips and a dual-tone café racer style seat. The W800 Café Racer sports black-finished spoke wheels similar to the 2016 model. Both variants get twin analogue instrument pods that incorporate a small digital display. The bikes ride on conventional forks upfront and twin shocks at the rear while braking is done by single discs at both ends with a dual-channel ABS.
The 2019 W800 is powered by a 773cc, parallel-twin engine with the bevel-drive overhead camshaft as the previous model. This unit produces a peak power output of 47bhp. Kawasaki will also reveal an A2-license friendly version soon. However, the Japanese manufacturer is unlikely to include the bike in its Indian portfolio anytime in the coming years.
