Suzuki’s new Japan plant to begin operations soon

- New factory combines three facilities into one location.

- Will ensure increased efficiency and reduced production costs.

- Next generation models to be built at the 70,000sq.ft plant.

Suzuki had announced about the creation of a new manufacturing facility in Hamamatsu, Japan back in 2014. Four years on, the factory is near complete and will begin operations soon.

The new 70,000sq.ft factory is spread across a massive 40 acres of land in the district of Miyakoda, Hamamatasu. It combines development, engineering, engine production and vehicle assembly into a single facility. The Hamamatsu plant replaces the engineering and development factory in Ryuyo, motorcycle assembly plant in Toyokawa and engine production facility in Takatsuka. This move will not only increase production efficiency but is also likely to reduce production costs for the manufacturer.

It will be responsible for producing majority of Suzuki motorcycles including CBUs (completely built unit) to be exported to foreign markets. The new manufacturing plant will also fabricate the next generation of Suzuki products like the 2019 Hayabusa, GSX-R600, GSX-R750 and the supercharged Recursion. Suzuki is expected to showcase these models at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show and EICMA this year.
