Tamburini T12 to be unveiled this week

The Tamburini T12 will be unveiled at the Top Marques Motor Show in Monaco this week. Limited to 12 units, the T12 is priced at a staggering 1 million USD (Rs 6.64 crores).

It is based on the BMW S1000RR and houses a race-tuned version of the latter’s 999cc inline-four cylinder engine in its bespoke chassis. The bike produces over 230bhp and has a dry weight of just 154kg thanks to its carbon fibre bodywork.

It is equipped with MotoGP-spec hardware like the Öhlin’s FGR gas forks up front, and a similar spec monoshock at the rear. Braking is done by Brembo four-pot monobloc calipers and twin discs for the front while the rear gets a single disc with a two-pot Brembo caliper.

The Tamburini T12 rides on forged magnesium Marchesini wheels shod with Pirelli slicks. The bespoke chassis is a military grade steel trellis frame, joint to cast magnesium swingarm plates and steering head. The single-sided rear swingarm is made from lightweight magnesium alloy. The exhaustive list also includes a GP-styled LCD instrument cluster, CNC-machined rearsets and a titanium 4-into-1 Arrow exhaust.

The bikes will be manufactured in San Marino at the Tamburini Corse factory. The Tamburini T12 is designed by Massimo Tamburini; the man behind the Ducati 916 and 748 and the founder of the Bimota brand. He also designed the MV Agusta F4 before leaving in 2008 to start working on the T12 in 2012. While he died in 2014, his family carried on with the project. Massimo Tamburini envisioned his creation to be the ultimate track bike and by the looks of it, the T12 seems like it should live up to the claim.
