The Kawasaki KLX140G is a dirt bike targeted at beginners. Positioned between the KLX110 mini bike and the KX100F motocross bike, the KLX140G is designed to handle off-roading while being easy-to-use for amateurs.
Based on Kawasaki’s KX range of motocross bikes, the KLX140G follows the same minimalistic design. It comes with tank shrouds, lightweight plastic body panels wrapped in new graphics for the 2019 edition. The motorcycle also comes with clawed footpegs, tall handlebar and a 5.8-litre narrow fuel tank. It even gets an electric starter.
The KLX140G is built around a box-section perimeter frame. It is powered by a 144cc air-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder engine mated to five-speed gearbox. The 33mm telescopic forks at the front offer 190mm travel, while the fully-adjustable rear monoshock offers 200mm travel. Being a motocross bike, the KLX140G has a high ground clearance of 315mm while weighs 99kg. Stopping power for the 21-inch front and the 18-inch rear spoke wheels are offered by a 220mm disc and a 190mm disc respectively.
The KLX 140G is imported from Thailand as a CBU. The lack of mirrors, headlamp and turn indicators means that the KLX140 isn’t road-legal, and can only be used on private property. As of now, the KLX140 occupies a niche market space and doesn’t have any competition in India.
