    Nishikanta Mahato

The Honda SP 125 is a popular commuter motorcycle in India known for its balance of performance, comfort, and fuel efficiency. Here's a breakdown of its pros and cons based on user reviews
Excellent Mileage: Users report mileage figures around 60 kmpl in real-world riding conditions, making it a very economical option
Smooth Performance: The 125cc engine is praised for being refined and vibrating minimally at city speeds.
Comfortable Ride: The seat is well-cushioned and comfortable for longer rides, and the upright riding position reduces strain on the back
Sporty Design: Many reviewers like the bike's styling, particularly its aggressive design and graphics
Reliable Honda Brand: Honda is known for its reliability and service network, giving owners peace of mind
    Cons:
Higher Price Point: Compared to other 125cc bikes in India, the SP 125 can be slightly pricier
Limited Features: Some reviewers felt the SP 125 lacked some features offered by competitors, such as a rear disc brake or a longer service interval
Not Ideal for Pillion Riders: While the seat is comfortable for the rider, some found it less spacious for carrying a pillion rider on extended journeys
Overall, the Honda SP 125 is a strong contender in the 125cc commuter segment in India. It offers a good blend of performance, comfort, and mileage, backed by the Honda brand's reputation for reliability. If you're looking for a fuel-efficient and comfortable motorcycle for daily commuting, the SP 125 is definitely worth considering. However, be mindful of the slightly higher price tag and consider your needs for features and pillion comfort before making a decision.

Since I am relatively new to the motorcycle scene, my first task was to identify the kind of motorcycle that would suit my needs.
After holding long "conferences" with other like-minded friends in engineering, I came to the conclusion that a 125cc engine would be adequate. Since my college commute clocks up around 7 kilometers daily, and considering my height (I'm 5ft 11') the factors of riding comfort, fuel efficiency, ergonomics and practicality were high up on the list.

    Harsh Virani

The fuel pump has a pipe without a protective mesh. If the pipe is accessed, fuel can be easily siphoned off.
If this pipe gets chewed by rats, it could lead to significant fuel leakage.
The indicators are not flexible, meaning if they break, you need to replace the entire indicator set.
Although aftermarket flexible indicators are available, it would be better if they were standard.
The bike has a ground clearance of only 160 mm, which is inadequate for rural areas with uneven terrain.
This low clearance can cause the bike to scrape, especially the silencer, when riding over bumps or rough roads.
The low beam is not very effective for night-time highway riding, though the high beam is better.
The bike lacks DRLs (Daytime Running Lights), and the headlight turns on directly when the bike starts.
The suspension is extremely hard, making the ride uncomfortable.
Although it is adjustable and long-lasting, it does not provide good comfort compared to other bikes like Super Splendor or Glamour.
The seat is very hard, causing discomfort on longer rides.
It feels like sitting on a stone, and after-market modifications are necessary to improve comfort.
The standard warranty is only 3 years or 42,000 km, which is less compared to competitors offering up to 5 years or 70,000 km.
The bike lacks a USB charging port, which is a practical feature for long travels.
There is no mobile connectivity, which, while not essential, could have been an added benefit.

    Santhosh

I purchased the bike on August 19th 2023. The bike is giving problems due to the clutch and brake. I recommend the workshop within the fee service they charged 6500 for the two free services also. I recommend not buying a SP 125 Honda bike. Waste of money. In the hump, I cannot ride properly. The dealer is also not proper in their free service.

  • Honda sp 125 review

  • Major Disadvantages in Honda SP 125
