Cruiser bikes are a bit different from other motorcycles. Cruisers are usually on the heavier side. It comes with a riding position that’s usually laid back. Plus, the seat height are the lowest compared to other genre of motorcycles. But the riding dynamics are the same as other bikes. So in a way, there are ways to maximize fuel efficiency of your cruiser bikes as well. Read the below tips.

    1: Maintain the throttle

Most of the riders who buy cruisers love long distance riding, and that’s where end up paying the maximum fuel cost. But there will be decent savings if you use the right throttle input and stay at the right speed. For example, it’s best to cruise at 80kmp as compared to 90kmph, as the engine speed will be much lower with the former. So less engine speed will result into less fuel consumption. Plus, the difference of just 10kmph won’t matter much in overall travel time, but when it comes to fuel savings, you will save quite a good amount.

2: Maintain the right tyre pressure

Make a habit of checking the tyre pressure every time you go for a fill-up. Most of us tend to ignore the tyres, but it’s one of the most important components of the motorcycle. A bike that runs on tyres with less pressure tend to be less fuel efficient. Low air pressure increases the contact patch of the tyres and that means, the engine needs to work harder to get the required momentum. This process leads to decreased mileage. Also, never over inflate the tyres. If you do that, the overall ride quality will be bouncy.

    3: Change city riding habits

Most of us have a habit of taking our phone out as soon as we hit a red light. Well, you can still do that, but make sure you switch off the motorcycle during that time. Imagine, you do this every single day and throughout the year. At the end of the year, you will see a drastic decrease in your fuel bills.

    4: Regular maintenance

Most of us get the bikes serviced at regular interviews, say once in three or six months. But there are a few maintenance activities that should be done on a regular basis. For example, lubing the chain with the right chain lube. It’s a good habit to do this once every 500kms. Most of the cruiser motorcycles doesn’t come with chain guard, so these bikes require regular chain cleaning and lubing.
