1 This was a gift from my uncle!!

2 this bike is sports bike but for a tall rider it is not that much aggressive posture but gives you somewhat sporty feel. But nevertheless your palms would pain a lot when you are driving for first time and also the pain in your glutenous is also noticing as the seat is not so comfortable but it is tolerable i would say. Otherwise i have done short rides of 30-40 kms of ride back to back and it is super fun to ride this baby!

well the pillion height is somewhat higher and feels like top on world but it gives no trouble at least when you are driving under the redline and not crossing it.

3 Coming to its power well it is bit low compared to rc200 but hey it surpass all expectation personally until now it still gives me chill if i push it to redline on 1st gear as it have ability to reach 0-60 under 10 secs again it is my personal observation so no deep thought about that. But apart from it the revs, the torque it is just satisfying if you are buying your first sports bike but again it is all about that torque it churns out, to be honest it doesn't have low end torque not a bit also but as soon as it crosses 5k on rpm the real nature reveals the power starts churning through its cylinders the revv is louder than rc 200!

comig to its looks well it is yamaha, a bike to catch all eyes on street but the major key component is its tail lamp it can leave all competition behind and it is yet satisfying

but coming to its mileage this baby beast has smaller tank capacity as its engine capacity is small too but again it gives a fair amount of mileage as i have to refill the tank only once or twice a month however hard i revs or how long i go it still gives you a pretty decent mileage!

the starting throttle is not that much crispy but as soon it hits the road it turns into a racing machine

coming to its tyre quality it has mrf i guess rev-s tyre which lacks grip on wet surface as i have met with many accidents when using mrf but soon i have switched to michelin pilot street tyres which are so good on grip like i have tested it in panic braking and on wet surfaces it just prevents you from tripping the bike but overall stock tyres are poor in terms of grip

well the exhaust is a worth a shot as it grunts louder and yet more refined to hear but there is vibrations on handlebar but they are not that much but are present and often subside as soon as you change the gear

coming to braking, well the front discs are very sensitive to pressure as soon you give a very minute push to front brakes it starts responding but the rear brake is bit late to respond but it does not hamper the braking experience.

The suspension of this bike well it is stiffer on front and soft at rear but sometimes the front suspension gives a hell lot of pain in hands as it is on stiffer side.

The instrument cluster is combination of analogue and digital it shows almost all necessary info on the go but it doesn't have rev limiter or a gear indicator

the gear shifting is also smoother but sometimes are cranky but that situation is rare .

The engine quickly heats in traffic but the heat is tolerable up to certain extent but it again doesn't interfere or stalls engine performance nor shuts down the bike

4 the servicing and maintenance of this bike is quite expensive but is worth a shot as after my first service i got my fuel injector cleaned and boom the bike now is more refined and more responsive. But the main issue of service is that all times the part of this bike are not available again i m saying based on my experience but they are quite expensive too but the service is sometimes is terrible and the feedback from the service team is also terrible but again i'm saying on basis of what i experienced.

But overall the service team still helps you to eliminate the problems of bike but i would it is rather sluggish than unresponsive.

5 Summarising it to final verdict

pros-

-good looks

-decent mileage

-good mid range torque

-responsive brakes

-refined engine

-lot of confidence after tyres warmed up

-good service team

-a nice instrument cluster

-smoother up-shifts

-good looking headlamps and a sexy tail lamp

cons-

-bit uncomfortable for tall riders but pain is tolerable

-seat comfort is low

-no low end torque

-quite expensive parts

-less powerful light beams

-ok grip on stock tyres

-electronic damaged easily if in contact of water

-down shifts are bit cranky

-for newbies they will accidentally shift to neutral more often while up shifting but it is quite annoying

-overheats on long rides

well if you are willing to buy your first 150cc sports bike this is worth for money but again it varies according to personal choice.

Tips for Yamaha YZF R15 [2011-2018]

It was fun to flick this through traffic but again it being on sportier side it was bit uncomfortable while through traffic.

Best to buy only for bachelor purposes but it has enough punch in the engine to make a better riding experience. and it looks super premium sporty bike. service & maintenance are very effort-able and service centres are also available in multi places .better in riding without any vibrations on highways also & only defective for not suitable for family purposes.

  • The only complete package bike in India

I bought the yamaha r15 despite having booked a pulsar 150. Initially, I planned to use my bike for a daily commute and hence wanted a decently powered bike with good mileage. However, I went against everyone's advice and bought the yamaha r15, as I learnt to ride a bike on the yamaha rx135 and own it to date.
The bike has the most refined engine in the under-200cc segment and has amazing balance. The mrf tires do an excellent job providing great road grip and I haven't felt more confident navigating corners on any other bikes than the r15. For starters, the riding posture is aggressive but nothing to worry about as one can get used to riding the bike in an almost upright posture in a few days (ps: I am 5'8"). I have never experienced any wrist pain or back pain - I used to ride for ~30km daily in mumbai traffic (can't get worse). It has a good pickup in the lower gears as well as in the upper gears and I used to get a mileage of ~45kmpl in the city and 60+ on highways (i'd got 80kmpl on mumbai-pune highway riding at 100km+). The riding style and fuel (91octane fuel gives better mileage and ride quality) matter in extracting a good mileage. The service costs were reasonable at about 1-2k per service and I didn't face any issue except once when the clutch cable was cut. A couple of things to be careful of are the mirrors which can get loosened and park your bike in a safe place to avoid scratches, dents, and falls.
Finally, if you have a flair for riding a powerful (power is not just in the cc), good-looking bike which also returns a good mileage - then the r15 is for you!

  • Riding the bike since 10 years! Amazing sporty bike speed loving guys.

Buying experience was quite good, when I saw the bike it was much tempting and I was eager to take its ride, after taking its ride I made my mind and bought it, people get used to attract towards its look and you feel very glad when people ask you about your bike since it is very appealing to them due to its sporty look and ultimate design. I haven't seen a bike before having such look and with a good mileage plus great pickup and speed. Coming towards servicing and maintenance it consumes very less maintenance and service it provides you long ride in one service, yes but I had a bad experience in showroom regarding service of the bike they just touchup and give you the bike in service and also if there is any problem they never settle it instead they ask us to replace the part.
Pros:- very good and sporty look with good mileage. Appealing to everybody when you ride it.
Cons:- back seat is not for elder person. Yamaha bike servicing by authorized service center is not good except few.

This bike is one of them , that every young Indian dreamed. I am owning this bike from last 5 years and still I can surely commit that this is best bike in 150cc segment. this is first sport bike in India which comes with best in speed , performance and successful in between Indian youths , one thing I love about this bike is that anyone can afford it and can buy it still and one thing that I have experienced that if you kept this bike properly and provide it regular service, then after riding 30000 km still my engine is working fine and one more thing in my experience, I can say that no other bike can compete it in 150cc segments in any of form factors whether we talk about speed, thrust, power it deliver and in style also.

  • King of the 150cc Segment - Yamaha R15

    People Call Me Ash

I bought a used R15 V2 to learn riding a sports bike and to improve my riding skills. According to me, R15 is an excellent bike for beginners. The bike os, not the smoothest one. It has a considerable amount of vibrations. It is mainly because it is a single cylinder and a high compression engine. Gear shifting is very smooth and precise. Overall there are no reliability issues since it is a YAMAHA. I learnt a lot of stuff on this bike like cornering, rev-matching, engine braking, counter-steering and so on.
I have seen people complain about the riding posture. It is not very aggressive. It all depends on your fitness level. I have done many 1000kms long trip. And I have covered close to 550kms on a single day. Of course, you will feel tired but it is not that uncomfortable.
As far as looks are concerned there are no haters for this design. The performance is the best in class. No other 150 cc bike can compete with the R15.
Maintainance cost is a bit high. It will cost you close to 2k per service. And I am not very satisfied with Yamaha's servicing.
P.S I have covered close to 40k kms in my bike.
    Pros:
Powerful engine for city commutes and weekend rides.
Very Stable at speeds above 130kmph.
Cruising speed of 120kmph is great considering a 150cc engine.
Maintainance cost is pretty decent and easy on the pocket.
Great looks. Definitely a head turner.
    An affordable everyday supersport.
    Cons:
    Lack of ABS.
Poor Headlights despite having twin headlamps.
    Vibrations near the redline.
The MRF tyres aren't that great. Michelin Radial tyres would be a better option.

This bike is a complete package in driving balancing as well as mileage. Although the pillion seat is little uncomfortable. The riding experience of this bike is one of the best experiences in comparison to other companies. Servicing and maintenance charge is quiet nominal. One of the greatest cons is that if your mother or father are old in age they will find great difficulty in sitting.

Nice sports bike, awesome handling, great look good for small distance daily commute. Good mileage. R15s is for family persons and boys both. 3 persons can sit normally and ladies can also sit comfortably because of uni-body single seat. I recommend it to those who want their family(ladies) to sit with you on this bike.

    Bharath

    Ronit Gehlot
