King of the 150cc Segment - Yamaha R15

I bought a used R15 V2 to learn riding a sports bike and to improve my riding skills. According to me, R15 is an excellent bike for beginners. The bike os, not the smoothest one. It has a considerable amount of vibrations. It is mainly because it is a single cylinder and a high compression engine. Gear shifting is very smooth and precise. Overall there are no reliability issues since it is a YAMAHA. I learnt a lot of stuff on this bike like cornering, rev-matching, engine braking, counter-steering and so on. I have seen people complain about the riding posture. It is not very aggressive. It all depends on your fitness level. I have done many 1000kms long trip. And I have covered close to 550kms on a single day. Of course, you will feel tired but it is not that uncomfortable. As far as looks are concerned there are no haters for this design. The performance is the best in class. No other 150 cc bike can compete with the R15. Maintainance cost is a bit high. It will cost you close to 2k per service. And I am not very satisfied with Yamaha's servicing. P.S I have covered close to 40k kms in my bike. Pros: Powerful engine for city commutes and weekend rides. Very Stable at speeds above 130kmph. Cruising speed of 120kmph is great considering a 150cc engine. Maintainance cost is pretty decent and easy on the pocket. Great looks. Definitely a head turner. An affordable everyday supersport. Cons: Lack of ABS. Poor Headlights despite having twin headlamps. Vibrations near the redline. The MRF tyres aren't that great. Michelin Radial tyres would be a better option.

This bike is a complete package in driving balancing as well as mileage. Although the pillion seat is little uncomfortable. The riding experience of this bike is one of the best experiences in comparison to other companies. Servicing and maintenance charge is quiet nominal. One of the greatest cons is that if your mother or father are old in age they will find great difficulty in sitting.

Hi everyone, I haven't purchased this bike my one friend have and i have driven it a lot Why it's ok only. There are major reasons that you should know why r15 is not good for you 1st major reason is it's over priced How?The cost of spare parts is too high which makes maintenance of bike uneasy for normal person Second reason is pickup Though the speed of bike is adorable but it's pickup is not good when we compare it with other bike that are below it's price Third and vital reason is Comfort Residing in India you can't expect roads like canada or australia Here roads are like our prime minister promise which will make you mad And traffic don't ask So in that condition bike becomes unbalanced various times And high chances of slips occur Last reason is This bike only suit for person drive If by chance your height/weight is small than your friend sitting behind you Then this bike won't handle it Height will only cause little balancing and getting ready to drive problem But if weight of your friend is way much higher than yours You are done for it Bike plastic will touch tyres So better thinks thrice before purchasing it.

Coming to riding experience, this is just amazing. Every proud owner of r15 will love riding on this bike. Few things needed to be done to the bike to make it better liking braking and suspension, they should have given a adjustable suspension. Cornering is the usp of this bike, you can lean through the corners with much confidence, thanks to those beefy tyres and the horn is just amazing.3. Looks: no 150 cc bike can come close to the looks of this beautiful machine. This is something crazy and next to the best.4. Servicing costs will come around 600 to 700 for first 6 free servicing, then after you may incur around 1200 to 2000 depending on the usage.5. Pro's: riding, confidence - you feel that bike is totally under your control, other bikes feel like we may be just handling it, but with this we feel the whole bike is in our control. Sensors works amazingly well and the power and the torque is linear in all the gears.Con's: pillion will need to learn a technique on how it sit, if that is done then this bike is amazing, breaks could have been a bit better if abs is provided as standard, plastic parts, they should have provided some frame sliders as optional accessories as that will save the frame from getting damaged.

The bike is extremely good when it comes to riding and looks and also the buying experience of the bike went on to be quite smooth but the trouble lies in the service because the bike goes very high on pocket every time you go maintenance and service schedule and adding to it the authorized service centre most of the time even they don't know what the problem is and unnecessary replace expensive parts.Since, the first service the bike costs around 1500 rupees for a no issue service and post second service uptill today the service centre will give a list of faults every-time and will ask you to get them replaced at the earliest.The chain sprocket gets damaged in 7000 km and brake pads needs change every 2500 km along with minute cracks in the fibre body which make a lot of sound and vibration and are difficult to detect.The sensor system if gone wrong is very difficult to fix even the service centre is unable to fix till date.Overall high maintenance but a amazing bike with smooth ride experience and stunning looks and comfort mechanism.
