About XL100 Heavy Duty

TVS XL100 Heavy Duty is a commuter bike available in 2 variants in India. Its lowest version starts from a price of ₹47,116 (ex-showroom) and the top version from a price of ₹48,726 (ex-showroom). TVS XL100 Heavy Duty generates 4.29 bhp of power and 6.5 nm of torque from its 99.7cc engine. Single cylinder engine of TVS XL100 Heavy Duty has an automatic gearbox. With both front and rear drum brakes, TVS XL100 Heavy Duty comes up with combined braking system of both wheels. This 89 kg bike is available in 5 colours.

The TVS XL 100 Heavy Duty is a 100cc moped aimed at the rural markets which is more of a load carrier than anything else. It is positioned above the two XL 100 standard and below the Comfort variant in TVS’ Indian portfolio.

The TVS XL 100 Heavy Duty, as the name suggests, is powered by a 99.7cc, single-cylinder four-stroke engine which was updated from carbureted to fuel-injected during the BS6 transition. It produces 4.3bhp at 6,000rpm and 6.5Nm at 3,500rpm and comes mated to a single-speed gearbox. Tipping the scales at just 89kgs, the XL 100 Heavy Duty can carry a payload of up to 130kgs.

The 16-inch spoke wheels ride on conventional telescopic suspension in the front and dual hydraulic springs in the rear. It gets drum brakes for both wheels. The miniscule fuel tank can take up just four litres of fuel with reserve arriving at 1.3litres. The removable rear seat allows for better load-carrying capacity with a single rider.

The XL 100 Heavy Duty also comes in an i-Touchstart variant with an electric starter and a USB charging ports being additional features. It demands a premium of around Rs 3,000 over the standard Heavy Duty. Being quite a niche product, the TVS XL 100 Heavy Duty doesn’t really have any direct competition in the Indian market.
