New Royal Enfield Thunderbird spotted testing in India again

-New Thunderbird gets cosmetic and mechanical upgrades

-Likely to continue with 346cc and 499cc engines

-To be priced at a premium over the current bike

The new Royal Enfield Thunderbird has been spotted doing the rounds in Tamil Nadu, India once again.

The spy images reveal that the Thunderbird will get a shorter rear fender that features a circular tail lamp with a chrome bezel for a retro touch, a revised split seat setup and grab rails borrowed from the custom-inspired Thunderbird X. The bike is also likely to get alloy wheels instead of the spoke wheel setup on the current model. Other noticeable changes include a redesigned exhaust, air-filter box, foot pegs and handlebar grips. The bike’s handlebar is also flatter and features a new single-pod instrument cluster with a small LCD display.

Moreover, the new Royal Enfield Thunderbird also features revised mechanicals. The bike’s final drive is now shifted to the left side whereas the disc brake is on the right. We expect the Thunderbird to continue with the 346cc and 499cc engine displacement although with a few adjustments to make it BSVI-compliant. Royal Enfield is likely to launch the new Thunderbird and Thunderbird X in India early next year priced at a premium over the current models.
