MotoGP: Michael van der Mark to replace Valentino Rossi

Michael van der Mark, one of the two riders that ride for Pata Yamaha in the World Superbike series, has been picked to replace Valentino Rossi at the Aragon round of the MotoGP championship. The call up comes on the back of a successful ride with team mate Alex Lowes and Yamaha MotoGP test rider Katsuyuki Nakasuga at the 6 hours of Suzuka.

Michael van der Mark has never ridden a MotoGP bike before, but he is understandably quite excited at the prospect. As the 2015 World Supersport champion, there is no doubt that van der Mark has the talent required, but it will be interesting to see how well he adapts to the bike under the pressure of a race weekend with no prior experience on it.

van der Mark will be in action at the Aragon round of the MotoGP championship, on the 24th of September.
