Kawasaki India launches the Ninja ZX-10R and ZX-14R for Rs 15.7 lakh and Rs 16.9 lakh

India Kawasaki Motor has launched the Ninja ZX-10R and the ZX-14R for Rs 15.7 lakh (ex-showroom Pune) and Rs 16.9 lakh (ex-showroom Pune) respectively. The Supersport duo will now join their younger siblings, the 300 and the 650, in the Indian market as a part of the Ninja lineup.   

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is powered by a 998cc inline-four liquid cooled engine that develops 200PS and is mated to six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle features the S-KTRC (Sport-Kawasaki Traction Control) system making this machine a perfect track tool. The motorcycle gets three modes are available - Full, Low (which limits power to about 60 per cent of full) and middle mode, which falls between the two.


It also gets Kawasaki Intelligent Antilock Braking System (KIBS), adjustable foot pegs, electronic steering damper from Ohlins and has more rigid swingarm than its rivals. The ZX-10R gets LED backlight instrument panel which adjust the brightness automatically.

It sports a dual semi-floating 310mm discs in the front and single 220mm petal disc at the rear. The front wheel is 17-inch in size and gets 120/70 tyre whereas the rear 17-inch wheel gets 190/55 tyre.  

The Ninja ZX-14R on the other hand is one of the fastest production motorcycles in the world. It is powered by 1441cc inline-four liquid cooled engine. It is the strongest motorcycle engine Kawasaki has ever produced and is mated to a six-speed gearbox.  The ZX-14R gets the KTRC traction-control system that has three different modes for varying riding conditions and can be controlled by a switch assembly on the left handlebar. Its gets an all-new 10 spoke wheel which is 3 pounds lighter than the previous ZX-14R. The chassis and the dampers have been revised and the swingarm is longer by 10mm.

The Ninja ZX-10R and the ZX-14R Supersport motorcycles will be available in India through completely-built-unit (CBU) route and will be sold across the country through exclusive Kawasaki showrooms. Initially, both the motorcycles will be sold in Maharashtra only with Pune being the first city to get the exclusive showroom. Pune Bookings starts from tomorrow, however the showroom will be operational from September 9 and the deliveries are scheduled to begin from September end. The Ninja 300 and the Ninja 650 will also be sold through Kawasaki's upcoming exclusive showrooms. 

Kawasaki India is aiming to sell 400 motorcycles in India and has the annual capacity of 5000 units. The Japanese manufacturer is expected to grow its market share to 20 per cent by 2015. The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R will compete with the Yamaha R1, Suzuki GSXR 1000, Aprilia RSV4 in the Indian market whereas the Ninja ZX-14R will compete with the Suzuki Hayabusa.
