Hero Destini 125 – What to expect

Hero had showcased the Destini 125 at the 2018 Auto Expo, although bearing the ‘Duet’ badge. The manufacturer has finally scheduled to launch the Destini 125 in India on 22 October. Here is a preview of the premium 125cc scooter before it arrives in showrooms.

    Design

Most of the Destini 125’s design has been inspired from the Duet 110 which gets a conventional appearance. However, the Destini features chrome on the front apron and side panels along with that lend the scooter a distinctive look. Furthermore, Hero is expected to offer the scooter with a range of rich colours to add to its premium appeal. Similar to the Duet 110, the Destini 125 gets a handlebar mounted headlight although the turn indicators are now positioned on the front apron on either side of the chrome garnish.

    Features

The Destini 125 will come equipped with Hero’s proprietary i3S start-stop system, earlier featuring only in the manufacturer’s commuter motorcycles. This technology shuts off the engine if left idle for a set amount of time, thus saving fuel.

It features an analogue speedometer with a digital unit that displays fuel level, trip meter, odometer and service due indicator. The Hero Destini 125 will also offer utilitarian features like an external fuel filler cap, pass light and optional USB charging.

    Engine

The scooter will be powered by a 124cc single-cylinder engine. This unit produces 8.7bhp and 10.2Nm of torque through a CVT transmission.

    Cycle parts

The scooter showcased at the Auto Expo did not feature a disc brake at the front and is unlikely to make it to the Destini 125 soon. Nevertheless, it will offer a CBS (combined braking system) as standard. It is likely to ride on 10-inch wheels on both ends shod with tubeless tyres.

    Pricing

We expect the Hero Destini 125 to be priced around Rs 52,000-Rs 55,000. It will face direct competition from the Suzuki Access 125 and Honda Activa 125 which are priced at Rs 55,666 and Rs 59,921 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
