Ducati Streetfighter V4 qualifies fastest at Pikes Peak Hill Climb Racing

- Ducati rider Carlin Dunne was 5.5 seconds faster than the runner up

- Rennie Scaysbrook emerged second astride the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100

- Ducati Streetfighter V4 is competing in the Exhibition Powersport class

Ducati has recently unveiled the prototype version of its upcoming litre-class naked street bike, the Streetfighter V4. The company had also stated that the motorcycle will be seen in action at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Racing which will act as the testing ground for the motorcycle. While we were eagerly looking forward to the race, the qualifying results now revealed that the Streetfighter V4, ridden by the Ducati rider Carlin Dunne, emerged fastest in the qualifying sessions of the competition.

In the qualifying round of Exhibition Powersport class at Pikes Peak, Carlin covered the 8.30km-course in 4:09.550 which made him 5.5 seconds faster than Rennie Scaysbrook, an Australian rider who clinched the second spot. Rennie rode the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 and finished the qualifiers in 4:15.006. He was followed by USA’s Codie Vahsholtz who finished the sessions in 4:15.775 astride the Ducati Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak.

The Ducati Streetfighter V4 is a naked version of the Italian brand’s fully-faired litre-class sportsbike, the Panigale V4. Both the motorcycles share the same 1103cc, Desmosedici Stradale V4 motor. However, the company has clarified that this motor will be tuned differently for the production version of the Streetfighter V4. Adorned with a ‘pixelated livery,’ the prototype version boasts of a distinctively styled headlamp cowl, a pair of winglets on both sides and a single unit handlebar. From the fuel tank to the tail section, the body panels have been retained from the Panigale V4.

After showing its performance prowess in the qualifying rounds, it will be interesting to see how the Ducati Streetfighter V4 fares against its competition in the final rounds of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Racing in USA. Stay tuned to BikeWale.
