Ducati Panigale V4R to get winglets

Ducati seems to be the first manufacturer to take its aerodynamics learning to its road bikes, and it seems it will debut on the Panigale V4R, the homolgation special that will ensure that it can run the model in the World Superbike Championship. 

Of course, the V4R will be an extremely limited run machine, selling only enough units to let it qualify for participation in WSBK. A revealing tweet from Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali stated that the company can't wait to get its MotoGP tech to future V4s, 'including frame stiffness, swingarm construction, traction control strategy and aerodynamic package.' Some of the traction control systems have already made their way to Ducati's road-going machinery, and it isn't a very big leap to the aerodynamic aids when you consider the new WSBK rules that allow winglets. Of course, they come with the standard rider: they must appear on the production bike. Considering Ducati's success with the addition of winglets in MotoGP, they would certainly look to gain a similar advantage in WSBK. 

However, with they be brutally functional tea-trays or integrated into the styling? The MotoGP rule book doesn't apply here, remember - but we won't have long to wait to find out. Expect the V4R to become public at EICMA, Milan, in November.
