Yamaha Saluto RX: All you need to know

The Saluto RX is Yamaha’s latest motorcycle to be launched in India. With a low price and the promise of high mileage, Yamaha is looking to reach out to the masses with this new entry-level commuter.

Engine

The Saluto RX features an all-new 110cc, single-cylinder engine which puts out 7.4bhp and 8.5Nm of torque. Based on Yamaha’s Blue Core engine development concept, the new engine has a compact combustion chamber which when paired with the Saluto RX’s 98kg wet weight leads to the company claimed fuel efficiency of 82kmpl. The Blue Core technology ideally focuses on increasing combustion and cooling efficiency of the engine and reducing the power loss.

Platform

Yamaha has majorly reworked the chassis for the Saluto RX in order to keep its weight in check. As a result, the bike weighs 98kg, which is a significant 22kg lighter than its predecessor, the Crux. This lightness is the key in the Saluto RX delivering a claimed mileage of 82kmpl. On the suspension front, the Yamaha Saluto RX rides on conventional telescopic forks up front and dual springs in the rear.

Features

In terms of equipment, the Saluto RX gets an electric start, 10-spoke black alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. The instrument console also gets a simplistic yet elegant design, with an analogue speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer. While the Saluto RX only gets a drum brake for the front wheel as of now, the company might offer a disc setup at a later date as an optional extra. The RX is available in four colours – matte black, breezy blue, inspiring red and gleaming black.

Positioning

The Saluto RX is the entry-level motorcycle in Yamaha's Indian line-up. Priced at Rs 46,400 (ex-showroom Delhi), it will be positioned under the Saluto 125cc. Yamaha has targeted this bike at young men who are looking for comfort and sporty looks with great fuel efficiency, at an affordable price.
