Yamaha to unveil a new motorcycle today

Yamaha will be unveiling a new sport motorcycle in Europe today. The company had released a teaser video last week called ‘The Dark Side of Japan’ few days back, which showed a rider (on the upcoming bike obviously) traversing various locations across Japan.

In the teaser video, the company provided very little information on the new motorcycle. But looking at the rider’s gear and helmet, it is likely the upcoming sport motorcycle will be a Super Moto. There are reports suggesting this motorcycle will be powered by a three-cylinder engine.

This is what the Japanese maker had to say in the teaser video, "While some onlookers may see Japan just as a traditional and respectful society where conformity is the norm, behind this stereotypical image lays a vibrant sub-culture where new fashions and ideas are constantly emerging. From the spectacle of drift racing through to the insanity of Japanese speedway, the other side of Japanese society has been responsible for some wild and wonderful trends. The same creative forces that drive the darker and unconventional side of Japan now have created a new kind of brutal animal, which is about to change the sport motorcycle world.”

It’s very unlikely for this new sport motorcycle to come to India as the company is busy focusing on the scooter segment till 2015. Plus, we think Yamaha will launch a 250cc motorcycle in India first, and then might get other sport motorcycles to one of the largest two-wheeler market in the world.

The motorcycle launch will take place today at 15:00 (CET) which is 7:30 PM (IST). Stay tuned as we at BikeWale will get all the details as soon as they emerge.
