Royal Enfield Shotgun 650

The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 is a striking addition to the brand’s 650 cc lineup, blending the performance of the proven parallel-twin engine with a bold, custom-inspired design. Powered by a 648 cc twin-cylinder engine that produces around 46 bhp and 52 Nm of torque, the bike delivers smooth, torquey, and refined performance—ideal for relaxed highway cruising and mid-range acceleration. Riders appreciate its strong road presence and unique bobber styling, which stands out from typical cruisers. The overall build quality feels premium, and features like LED lighting, a semi-digital instrument cluster with Tripper navigation, and USB charging make it a modern and well-equipped motorcycle. However, the Shotgun 650 isn’t without compromises. At nearly 240 kg, it’s quite heavy, making low-speed handling and city commuting a bit challenging. The suspension setup is on the stiffer side, which works well on smooth highways but can feel harsh over rough Indian roads or potholes. Ground clearance is modest, so tall speed breakers may scrape the underbelly. Additionally, the stock single-seat configuration limits pillion comfort and luggage-carrying ability, and while a pillion kit is available, it’s more of an accessory add-on than a touring solution. Fuel efficiency averages around 22–24 km/l in real-world use, which is decent for its engine size.In terms of value, the Shotgun 650 starts at around ₹3.59 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as a premium lifestyle bike rather than an everyday commuter. It’s best suited for solo riders who enjoy weekend rides, appreciate unique styling, and prioritize engine refinement and cruising comfort over practicality. If you’re seeking a head-turning motorcycle with character, performance, and the signature Royal Enfield thump, the Shotgun 650 delivers. But if your needs involve frequent city rides, pillion travel, or comfort on bad roads, bikes like the Super Meteor 650 or Interceptor 650 may be more versatile choices.

Stylish, but Not Without Flaws

It delivers great power and pickup - acceleration is instant and fun. It looks stunning and turns heads, too. Despite the weight, it feels well-balanced while riding. But it is heavy, make no mistake. Suspension isn’t great, especially for pillion comfort. Still, a solid bike if performance and looks matter to you. Go for it if you're looking for a roadster that handles and rides amazingly well.

My Bike: My POV

I have recently purchased this single-seater bike in the past Dhanteras. To be honest, the bike is majestic. You can literally feel the torque and power. At a kerb weight of 240 kilograms, it gives you the smoothest possible ride. Whether on highways or on city roads, you would never feel strained or have discomfort of any sort.
