New Triumph Speed Twin to be launched in India on 31 August

- New Triumph Speed Twin India launch scheduled on 31 August, 2021

- Pre-bookings open

- Euro5/BS6-compliant model to make more power

Triumph Motorcycles will update its India portfolio with the launch of the new Speed Twin on 31 August, 2021. The retro-style model, which is already available in the international markets, has been unveiled and listed on the company’s India website. The Indian arm of the British two-wheeler maker had commenced the pre-bookings for the new Speed Twin in June 2021.

The 2021 Triumph Speed Twin packs several new features and mechanical upgrades. The latest iteration of the motorcycle retains the 1,200cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine layout, although the updated motor makes slightly more power than its predecessor. The Euro5/BS6-compliant engine churns out 98.6bhp of maximum power at 7,250rpm as against 96bhp on the old motorcycle. The peak torque remains at 112Nm, however, it now comes at 4,250rpm as against 4,950rpm on the old model. The company also claims that the updated motor is more responsive than its predecessor.

Right Side View

The 2021 Speed Twin uses 43mm Marzocchi upside-down front forks with cartridge damping instead of conventional units on the old model. The suspension setup at the rear is handled by preload-adjustable twin-sided springs. The braking setup now gets Brembo M50 callipers that grab the 320mm twin discs at the front. The rear, on the other hand, uses a 220mm single rotor with a Nissin-sourced calliper.

While the engine, suspension setup, and the braking hardware have received major updates, the styling remains nearly similar to the old model. The changes include new anodised headlight mounts, new mudguard mounts, 12-spoke alloy wheels, and new graphics. Internationally, the 2021 Triumph Speed Twin is available in three colours – Red Hopper, Matte Storm Grey, and Jet Black.

The motorcycle should carry a price premium over its predecessor, and we expect the 2021 model to arrive in the Rs 10-11 lakh (ex-showroom) range.
