India-bound 2021 Triumph Speed Twin revealed

- 2021 Triumph Speed Twin gets a Euro5/BS6-compliant engine

- Features include upside-down front forks and Brembo callipers

- India launch likely to happen soon

Triumph Motorcycles has revealed the 2021 iteration of the Speed Twin. The new model features mechanical upgrades to comply with the newest emission norms. During the transition, the company also revised the feature list on the motorcycle.

The mechanical specifications retain the 1,200cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine, although the new model makes slightly more power than its predecessor. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the Euro5/BS6-compliant motor produces 98.6bhp at 7,250rpm as against 96bhp on the old motorcycle. The peak torque, on the other hand, remains at 112Nm although it now comes at 4,250rpm as against 4,950rpm on the old model. The updated motor is claimed to be more responsive than its predecessor.

Instrument Cluster

Apart from mechanical upgrades, the 2021 Speed Twin also gets improved hardware. The suspension setup, for example, now features 43mm Marzocchi upside-down front forks with cartridge damping instead of conventional units on the old model. The suspension tasks at the back are handled by preload-adjustable twin-sided springs. Also new for the 2021 model are Brembo M50 callipers that grab the 320mm twin discs at the front. The anchoring setup at the rear includes a 220mm single rotor with a Nissin-sourced calliper. Lastly, the 17-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in Metzeler Racetec RR tyres.

The electronic rider aids include three riding modes (Rain, Road, and Sport), traction control system, and ABS. Other standard equipment on the motorcycle includes full-LED lighting, a semi-digital instrument cluster, USB power socket, and an engine immobiliser. The company will offer a wide-range of optional accessories for the Speed Twin.

Head Light

Styling upgrades are minimal, and the 2021 model packs new anodised headlight mounts, new mudguard mounts, 12-spoke alloy wheels, and new graphics. Design elements such as a rounded fuel tank with Monza cap, bench seat, and bar-end mirrors have been retained from the old model. Triumph Motorcycles has announced three colours for the 2021 Speed Twin – Red Hopper, Matte Storm Grey, and Jet Black.

The Indian launch details for the 2021 Triumph Speed Twin are not available yet, but we expect to see this motorcycle on our shores very soon.
