Just a few days ago, Ducati India brought in the Panigale V2 Bayliss Edition to India. It’s priced at Rs 21.30 lakh and will be offered in an undisclosed but limited number for the Indian market. Compared to the standard model which is priced at Rs 17.49 lakh, the Bayliss Edition costs almost Rs 4 lakh more. But what does it offer? Let’s have a close look.
First and foremost, the Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary Edition gets a special livery of red, white and green with the number 21 on the fascia, side fairing and the rider seat (embroidered).
It’s inspired by the Ducati 996 R of the first World Superbike title that Troy Bayliss won back in 2001 Apart from that, it looks identical to the standard bike.
Ducati has etched the edition name and number on the triple clamp. Moreover, the bike also has Troy Bayliss’ signature on the fuel tank and his championship winning years.
For the uninitiated, Troy Bayliss is the only motorcycle racer to have won titles in MotoGP and World Superbike in the same season (2006).
It retains the 955cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder mill that produces 152.9bhp of power at 10,750rpm and 104Nm of peak torque at 9,000rpm. It’s mated to a 6-speed gearbox that’s equipped with a quickshifter.
On the feature front, you get the same 4.3-inch colour TFT display. The electronics package too has been retained. You get three riding modes (Race, Sport and Street), cornering ABS, traction control system, engine brake control, power modes, wheelie control, and auto tyre calibration.
The Panigale V2 Bayliss edition also gets Ohlins NX30 fork with a TTX36 rear shock instead of the Showa and Sachs equipment seen on the standard model. The special edition also weighs about 3kg less, thanks to the lithium ion battery and the single seat setup.
It even gets a titanium and carbon fibre exhaust outlet cover, self-cleaning brake and clutch pumps with smoked grey oil tank.
It gets the same braking setup and wheels as the base model. Lastly, Ducati India has already commenced the deliveries of the Panigale V2 Bayliss Edition.
