The accident occcured with a car, and the impact was so severe that he broke through the windshield of the Peugeot. He had serious injuries to his chest and head, and received treatment at the scene of the accident. He was later transferred to the Bufalini Hospital where there are head and trauma specialists. He underwent surgery and is now in a medically induced coma that will last for 24 hours, to help the healing process. We will update you with further information as it gets available.

Honda's road-racing program has had a run of bad luck this past week, with Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness having a major off at the Northwest 200 and breaking his leg badly, along with a few ribs and vertebrae. He will be out for this year's Isle of Man race.
