Indian Motorcycles unveils the 2015 livery

Staying true its motorcycles’ vintage styling, Indian Motorcycles has revealed the 2015 livery for its three bike line-up. The Chief Classic, Chief Vintage and the Chieftain will now be offered with a host of two-tone paint schemes as well as solid colours, a theme which harks back to the original classic cruisers of the iconic American manufacturer.

The entry-level model in the Indian line-up, the Chief Classic will be available in Indian Motorcycle red/thunder black two-tone scheme and a solid Indian Motorcycle red. The Vintage and the Chieftain will be available in three two-tone paint schemes - Indian Motorcycle red/ thunder black, Indian Motorcycle red/ivory cream, willow green/ ivory cream and two solid paint schemes - Indian Motorcycle red and Indian Thunder black.

Speaking about the new livery, Mr. Steve Menneto, VP of Indian Motorcycle said, “Two-tone paint schemes are among the most iconic elements of vintage Indian motorcycles dating back about 80 years, giving the bikes a look and feel that is instantly recognisable and beloved by motorcycle fans. It is exciting to reintroduce two-tone paint for our 2015 Indian Chief models. These paint schemes pay tribute to Indian bikes of the past but come coupled with the exceptional technology and power that the 2015 Chief line-up offers.”

The original Indian motorcycles of the early 1930s and 40s were popular for their vintage look and the company has managed to carry forward the classic appeal in their new range as well. The new range of Indian motorcycles gets stylish, elegant fenders, which have remained mostly unchanged from those of the early 1940s. The massive tank continues to feature the big traditional ‘Indian’ badge and chrome has been liberally used on the headlamp unit, exhaust system and the engine. The motorcycles also get a hidden rear suspension to give it the look of a rigid suspension motorcycle. All three cruisers are powered by a new Thunder Stroke 111 engine which churns out 161Nm of peak torque. The bike has six-speed transmissions and also gets modern features like electronic fuel injection and ABS.
