Ducati India has launched the second-generation Diavel in India, now christened as the Diavel 1260. The power cruiser has been introduced with a sticker price of Rs 17.70 lakhs and the higher-spec ‘S’ variant at 19.25 lakhs, ex-showroom, India. The motorcycle was unveiled during the 2018 EICMA followed by its launch in the international market.

While the Diavel 1260 continues to follow the distinctive design like its predecessor, the company has brought in new updates on the mechanical and cosmetic front. Besides the new trellis frame and cast sub-frame, the overall design is now sharper with more prominent contours giving the motorcycle a more aggressive appeal. Ducati has improved the commanding riding stance with better ergonomics by offering a higher set single-piece wide handlebar, low-slung saddle and mid-set footpegs. The bike also gets a full-LED lighting system, DRL lights for the S version and self-cancelling turn indicators. On the feature-front, the Diavel 1260 now packs an updated instrument console in the form of a 3.5-inch TFT colour unit. Besides that, it also gets a 6-axis IMU, optional Ducati Quick Shifter (standard on S variant), cornering ABS, eight levels of Ducati Traction Control (DTC), eight levels of Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Ducati Power Launch Evo and also a cruise control system.

As the name suggests, Ducati has bumped up the displacement of the power cruiser from 1198cc to 1262cc which now belts out a max power output of 157bhp and a peak torque figure of 129Nm. The motor continues to be the Testastreta L-twin unit with Desmodromic Variable Timing. Transmission duties continue to be taken care of by a six-speed unit.

In the case of cycle parts, the Diavel 1260 is suspended by adjustable 50mm inverted forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. For braking, the power cruiser employs twin discs at the front with radially-mounted Brembo M4.32 calipers and a single disc with floating Brembo caliper at the back. The Diavel 1260 is also available in a higher-spec ‘S’ variant which features premium 48mm Ohlins inverted forks for the front and monoshock for the rear, both fully adjustable. The braking setup is also beefed up with a pair of Brembo M50 calipers for the front brakes and a radial master cylinder.

Ducati is offering two colour schemes for the motorcycle, Sandstone Grey (common for both variants) and Thrilling Black and Dark Stealth livery exclusive to the 'S' variant. The motorcycle will be available at Ducati dealerships across the country by the end of the month. While the Diavel 1260 does not have any direct rivals, it competes against the likes of the Harley-Davidson Fat Bob in the country.
