The Aprilia SR is a brand of scooters made by Aprilia two wheeler manufacturer in India. There are 2 SR models on offer with price starting from Rs. 1,23,831 (avg. Ex-showroom). The cheapest model under the series is Aprilia SR 125 with 124.45cc engine generating 9.97 bhp of power. Whereas the most expensive model is Aprilia SR 160 with 160.03cc engine generating 11.11 bhp of power.

The SR brand from Aprilia is all about great performance and standout styling. It was launched at the time when there was strong demand for scooters but there wasn’t any performance scooters in the market. The Italian maker first entered this fun segment with a 150cc scooter which was later followed by a 125cc one. The SR brand still has a great fan following and manages to entice Indian customers till date.

The SR150 is a sporty scooter and quite a unique one, thanks to the presence of large 14-inch wheels. There’s no other scooter in the country with such large wheels. The SR150 also benefits from a powerful 150cc scooter that delivers good amount of power. The scooter rides on metallic black alloy wheels. At the front is a standard telescopic suspension while the rear gets a single-side coil spring. The headlamps are integrated into the cowl of the fascia, but the indicators have been positioned on the handlebar.

The SR125 is a 125cc variant of the famous SR125. Most of the aesthetics and cycle parts are from the SR150 but the SR125 does get a few exclusive things. The SR125 is built on a tubular steel frame and uses telescopic forks at the front and a single coil spring at the rear for suspension duties. Meanwhile, braking is done by a 220mm disc at the front and a 140mm drum at the rear. The SR125 rides on large 14-inch wheels borrowed from its bigger sibling.

Piaggio launched the SR160 when it increased the displacement due to BS6 emission norms. In terms of hardware, the SR160 retains the same wheels, suspension and brakes. It rides on large 14-inch alloy wheels which are suspended by 30mm telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is delivered by a 220mm disc at the front and a 140mm drum at the rear, assisted by a single-channel ABS as standard. The list of features includes a semi-digital instrument cluster and conventional headlamp with an LED tail lamp.

Aprilia SR 125 - Worth buying?

Best suited for everyday commute and long drive Better road stability compared to other scooters because of wider tyres. Pricing is high but is worth paying for safer ride considering pothole roads. Scooter looks awesome, handling is smooth and comfortable. Servicing and maintenance consider the dealer workshop. Overall the scooter is worth buying

I had to buy it online because the showroom was very far from my place. The riding experience was quite a notch. The looks of the bike were exceptional as it is made to be in the hands of college-going students. Service doesn't cost much but the maintenance fee is a bit too much. The bike is made to rock.

The buying process was easy there was no hassle like TVS the ride quality was fine could have been better but the cornering is a piece of cake. The 0-60 is very quick when compared to Vespa but above 60 is struggles a bit the service is a little experience when compared to Honda or TVS the price is like Vespa. Pros-1.) stylish 2.) bakes a awesome3.) corners like a champ. 4.) the wheels are of 14inch and a grippe. Cons-1.)lacks in practicality, 2.) storage is very less, 3.) the suspension is still, 4.) the price is high.

Good buying experience, pre booked and waited for 3 months to arrive, I bought SR 150 in 2017 but sold it in march 2023 as I was going from Aizawl to Delhi, ride experience was great But the shock absorbers were a bit hard, the performance is quite good but not for hilly area like Aizawl and its sporty look is awesome and beautiful, maintenance is a bit expensive.
