- Honda Activa 6G will get a BS6-compliant, fuel-injected motor
- Will produce slightly lesser power than the BS4 model
- Likely to be around Rs 5,000-8,000 more expensive than the 5G edition
The Activa 6G will get a couple of updates over the outgoing 5G model. Starting with the engine, powering the scooter will be a new BS6-compliant, fuel-injected motor. According to a document which was leaked recently, this updated 109.51cc engine churns out 7.6bhp, as opposed to 8bhp from the existing BS4 version. Moreover, the peak power comes in 500rpm later at 8,000rpm. However, expect the new powerplant to be more refined and fuel-efficient.
The scooter could also be majorly updated on the feature front. Similar to its 125cc sibling, Honda might equip the 6G model with an ACG silent starter motor, start-stop function, side stand engine inhibitor and an external fuel filler cap. We might also witness an updated semi-digital instrument cluster displaying ample of information along with a USB charging port. In terms of cycle parts, it will perhaps continue to ride on 10-inch steel wheels shod with tubeless tyres. Whether Honda replaces the link-type front suspension by telescopic forks remains to be seen. Lastly, it could also get subtle cosmetic tweaks along with new colour options.
The Honda Activa 5G is pegged between Rs 55,935 (standard) to Rs 58,199 (Deluxe SE) and the 6G edition is likely to demand a premium of around Rs 5,000-8,000 over this pricing. It will compete against the TVS Jupiter BS6 and the Hero Maestro Edge.
