Vespa 946 Emporio Armani discontinued

The second most expensive scooter in India, the Vespa 946 Emporio Armani, has been discontinued from the Indian market.

This Vespa is no longer on sale in international markets as well, as the contract between Piaggio and Giorgio Armani has ended. The Vespa 946 Emporio Armani was launched to celebrate Piaggio’s 130th and Giorgio Armani’s 40th anniversaries. This limited edition model was launched in India last November with an unbelievable price tag of Rs 12.05 lakhs (ex-showroom Pune) with a lot of fanfare. Despite such a hefty price tag, the 946 did manage to find some buyers. However, Piaggio India has refused to divulge their exact sales figures.

This Italian scooter is powered by a 125cc fuel-injected single-cylinder engine that produces 11.39bhp at 8750rpm and peak torque of 9.6Nm at 7750rpm. There are features like anti-lock braking system (ABS), anti-slip regulator (ASR) traction control and LED lights on this scooter that make it more special. Disc brake is standard at both front and rear.

The launch of the 946 was seen a brand building exercise for the company. It was launched at a time when the company was in the process of opening multiple Motoplex showrooms. Displaying a scooter like the 946 inside the dealership was bound to get a lot of footfalls.
