Italian motorcycle manufacturer Motto Guzzi introduced two models at EICMA built around a brand new 850cc engine: a rather classic-looking Roamer and a more radical Bobber. Both are headed to India and will be positioned below the bigger Moto Guzzi models such as the California.
Stefano Pelle, MD of Piaggio Vehicles in India, has confirmed that the Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber and V9 Roamer will be coming to India. Both bikes will be brought under the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route.
Moto Guzzi have said that the new V9 engine shifts the focus to torque and elasticity, offering peak torque of 62Nm at as low as 3,000rpm and 55bhp at 6,250rpm. The bikes have a single-plate dry clutch and a new six-speed gearbox to the final drive, a new double-jointed shaft.
In terms of technology, it includes a two-channel ABS, two-level traction control, immobilizer and a USB port. There's also an optional Multimedia Platform (MG MP) on offer that connects wirelessly to a smartphone and allows the rider to monitor a variety of vehicle information. The MG MP includes several interesting features like eco ride, where the rider can access fuel consumption data.
Both motorcycles were displayed in production-ready form at the 2016 Auto Expo. The motorcycles will make their way to India soon after the international launch, most likely this year.
