    I'm from assam. 21 years, i am still studying my college. So i go to my college everyday, to go to my college i need a vehicle, which has style, speed, tough, and may features, so i chose ktm duke 390 which has given me all the needs i want. I get attention in my college for my bike. I wanna say thank you to ktm duke 390. Wow.

  • Worst ground clearance of KTM Duke 390 Bs6

    The only problem with Duke 390 bs6 is the ground clearance. The catalytic converter is in the under belly of bike and it easily touches the non-standard speed breakers in Mumbai. I managed to hit the speed breaker 8 times in single ride from dealer to my home. I also own Pulsar RS200 and TVS RR310 and i use these roads every single day and i never had issue with speed breaker. KTM should definitely do something regarding this because its a serious issue.

    I bought this bike with high hope But the thing is it's reliability is too poor I bought the first batch of bike's. Bought in 2017 Finished 35k km till now. Had several seriously several issues Which are not even sorted till now Service quality is average to poor. Most problems svc doesn't even know how to solve My take on the bike is *yes it's high on power *it has good dynamics*it's high on features. But It's all totally unreliable. See*within 3 months i had coolant mix with engine oil *clutch problem *major electrical problems*chain noise (hitting the swingarm) tak tak noise even after lubing and adjusting it*brake oil lining getting cracked(unsafe)*display having bluetooth problem*bike vibrating which is too much to adjust( yes it's a big single but the vibe during the first 5k km to the vibes now are just irresistible)* heating i won't say is a problem coz of the big engine*poor paint quality*pathetic build quality. So for the first 10k km the bike will be good then after it will just urge you to sell it That's how the owner experience will be.

    I own a duke 390 bs4 version for 2+ years now covering 16000 kms. I must say, it is an awesome everyday companion.
    Riding experience:-
    I ride my bike to office and home every day covering 80 kms/day. I also do occasional tours ranging from 200-300 kms. The ride quality and reliability is good. First and foremost is safety. You feel more comfortable and safe in the corners and during high speed braking. The acceleration is sublime and it does that without breaking a sweat. I generally don't prefer carrying pillion so i can't really comment on that but i can say this is not a comfortable bike for a married-family man having the purpose of riding to nearby shops, carrying pillion partner etc., this is best experienced when riding solo.
    Looks & performance :-
    Bs4 and now the bs6 looks very similar except the color and decals. Looking stunning.
    After a couple of tours, I realized the engine, braking performance were great. The enormous grip generated by the stock 'h' rated Metzeler are even more superior. I'd say this bike has got all the best performance components.
    Servicing and maintenance :-
    I was a royal enfield owner previously and i don't feel any difference in maintaining duke 390 in terms of costs and wear n tear parts. I do general service once in 4 months and oil service once in 8 months or 7500 kms whichever earlier. General service cost a 3-digit figure and oil service costs me approx. 2000-3500 depending on the additional components like air filter, brake pads etc.,
    The stock 'h' rated Metzeler lasted in my bike for a straight 15,000 kms (manufacturer claims a mere 8000 kms). I ride my bike in nh and neat tarmac of bangalore so i was able to stretch the life of those tires twice than usual. Replacement tires 'h'-Metzeler (or) 'h'-Michelin (or) 'w'-Apollo will cost you around 11,000 to 13,000 Rs. and they have different life span and ride quality. You may have to explore and find the right choice among these. Chain sprocket costs around 4000 Rs., and mine is still in good condition (at 16000 kms). Regular cleaning and lubricating (every 500 kms or 2 weeks whichever earlier) has stretched the sprocket life as well.
    With all the above, you may have some understanding on the maintenance and costing involved.
    I use my bike only for daily commute to office and occasional touring as said above. I constantly get a mileage of 32 kms/litre. I don't revv up a lot and shift gears at approx. 5500 rpm and maintain uniform speeds averaging 70-85 km/h.
    Pros:-
    High efficient braking and safety
    Reliable engine
    Touring ride quality
    Cornering and excellent tire grip in dry and wet conditions (with Metzeler)
    Cons:-
    Frequent chain clean and lube maintenance
    Less tire life
    High wear n tear of small parts and minor replacement costs (air filter etc.,)
    Suitable for solo only (personally I did not feel this bike comfortable for duo rides)

    1. I always wanted to buy ktm duke 390 feom the day it was launced however i bought it on my 25th birthday.

    2. As we all kniw its a hollegon machine if you want to own this bike as a first bike than this thing is not for you, because it needs experince to ride this machine.

    3. I really loved the way it looks.

    4. Not costly as compared to 400cc category motorcycle also servicing period is very long 7500 so doesn't need much attention.

    5. Pros are power to weight ratio is amazing, very light to flick around cities, ergonomics are good not aggressive nor touring.

    Cons are seat is damn hard you cannot ride with stock seat for more than 100 kms if you ride more than 100kms than i think ktm should honor you as "iron butt"

    engine heats up alot in cities other than this i haven't faced any problem.

    The buying experience was worst.The bike is aggressive, has hell of acceleration, and makes you feel invincible.Duke 390 is really a crowd bait, looks aggressive and ready to race!The first as well as second service cost is around 2.5k maintenance cost is not that higher either.The bike looks of new generation and since it is a crowd bait get ready for some unwanted attention.

    Duke 390 is a best powerful vehicle in 400cc But MRF tyres are too bad in high speed and cornering grip. I have touched 165+ speed in highway. Front-wheel starts wobbling. The wobbling starts at 125 to 130 .. I never expect this issue in ktm. Please changes the tyres and give Michelin or some other brand.

    Powerful torque

    Brakes are good

    Amazing balance

    And bike's look is awesome while i am riding people can't stop looking at me

    And yes make sure your duke's servicing change the oil when your bike reaches on 3000 for maintenance

    i had rode 390 from kurnool(ap) to Bangalore (ka) of 350 kms non stop only a 15 mins break 100 to 120 kmph speed and 150 kmph at empty roads engine is not so heated and the liquid cooling system works faster and quick and the pick up from 130 plus is also awesome and u wont get any vibrations and the mileage obtained is between 18 to 20 on highway.

  • Ktm duke 390 - it's pros and cons. In all it's glory.

    First of all let me start off by saying that i give a big thumbs up to ktm for giving the ktm 390 duke a lot of potential and deserving upgrades. Be it the technical upgrades or mechanical. They've done a pretty good job with that.

    I've ridden the 2016 version and the 2017 version too. The first difference that you'll notice is that the power delivery is a lot smoother and its linearity has also increased up a notch from the previous version. The throttle isn't as jerky as the previous version so you won't have any surprises on that issue.

    The brakes have pretty good stopping power at both the front and the rear end of the bike. And with the slipper clutch you won't have to worry about your rear wheel locking up during a hard downshift. The abs kicks in quickly so you might feel that to be a little interfering.

    The new suspension does a good job at handling bumps and potholes pretty well. I felt that it was a little soft at the rear end so be careful in corners until you're well affirmed with the bike.

    Speaking about the tyres, they have a lower rating than the previous tyres but provide better durability. And if you're uncomfortable with them, you can always change them and get the metzeler m7's which are just extraordinary.

    The handling of the bike is buttery smooth. It can slice through traffic like a hot knife through butter.

    The looks are obviously very appealing and they have this captivating charm to them. The instrument cluster is well, amazing. It has everything you need to know about the bike.

    Overall i'd say that this is a great starter bike for beginner riders. But be careful with the throttle. The bike is very, and i mean very torquey. If you're buying this bike for your daily commute, go for it. It's beautiful. But if you're looking to do a lot of touring and adventure. You might want to look at other options because you're going to feel that wind blast like crazy when you're doing around 120/110 kmph. I haven't done a long ride but i think it'll be comfortable.

    i had rode 390 from kurnool(ap) to Bangalore (ka) of 350 kms non stop only a 15 mins break 100 to 120 kmph speed and 150 kmph at empty roads engine is not so heated and the liquid cooling system works faster and quick and the pick up from 130 plus is also awesome and u wont get any vibrations and the mileage obtained is between 18 to 20 on highway.

  • Ktm duke 390 - it's pros and cons. In all it's glory.

    First of all let me start off by saying that i give a big thumbs up to ktm for giving the ktm 390 duke a lot of potential and deserving upgrades. Be it the technical upgrades or mechanical. They've done a pretty good job with that.

    I've ridden the 2016 version and the 2017 version too. The first difference that you'll notice is that the power delivery is a lot smoother and its linearity has also increased up a notch from the previous version. The throttle isn't as jerky as the previous version so you won't have any surprises on that issue.

    The brakes have pretty good stopping power at both the front and the rear end of the bike. And with the slipper clutch you won't have to worry about your rear wheel locking up during a hard downshift. The abs kicks in quickly so you might feel that to be a little interfering.

    The new suspension does a good job at handling bumps and potholes pretty well. I felt that it was a little soft at the rear end so be careful in corners until you're well affirmed with the bike.

    Speaking about the tyres, they have a lower rating than the previous tyres but provide better durability. And if you're uncomfortable with them, you can always change them and get the metzeler m7's which are just extraordinary.

    The handling of the bike is buttery smooth. It can slice through traffic like a hot knife through butter.

    The looks are obviously very appealing and they have this captivating charm to them. The instrument cluster is well, amazing. It has everything you need to know about the bike.

    Overall i'd say that this is a great starter bike for beginner riders. But be careful with the throttle. The bike is very, and i mean very torquey. If you're buying this bike for your daily commute, go for it. It's beautiful. But if you're looking to do a lot of touring and adventure. You might want to look at other options because you're going to feel that wind blast like crazy when you're doing around 120/110 kmph. I haven't done a long ride but i think it'll be comfortable.

  • Worst ground clearance of KTM Duke 390 Bs6

    The only problem with Duke 390 bs6 is the ground clearance. The catalytic converter is in the under belly of bike and it easily touches the non-standard speed breakers in Mumbai. I managed to hit the speed breaker 8 times in single ride from dealer to my home. I also own Pulsar RS200 and TVS RR310 and i use these roads every single day and i never had issue with speed breaker. KTM should definitely do something regarding this because its a serious issue.

    I bought this bike with high hope But the thing is it's reliability is too poor I bought the first batch of bike's. Bought in 2017 Finished 35k km till now. Had several seriously several issues Which are not even sorted till now Service quality is average to poor. Most problems svc doesn't even know how to solve My take on the bike is *yes it's high on power *it has good dynamics*it's high on features. But It's all totally unreliable. See*within 3 months i had coolant mix with engine oil *clutch problem *major electrical problems*chain noise (hitting the swingarm) tak tak noise even after lubing and adjusting it*brake oil lining getting cracked(unsafe)*display having bluetooth problem*bike vibrating which is too much to adjust( yes it's a big single but the vibe during the first 5k km to the vibes now are just irresistible)* heating i won't say is a problem coz of the big engine*poor paint quality*pathetic build quality. So for the first 10k km the bike will be good then after it will just urge you to sell it That's how the owner experience will be.

    I own a duke 390 bs4 version for 2+ years now covering 16000 kms. I must say, it is an awesome everyday companion.
    Riding experience:-
    I ride my bike to office and home every day covering 80 kms/day. I also do occasional tours ranging from 200-300 kms. The ride quality and reliability is good. First and foremost is safety. You feel more comfortable and safe in the corners and during high speed braking. The acceleration is sublime and it does that without breaking a sweat. I generally don't prefer carrying pillion so i can't really comment on that but i can say this is not a comfortable bike for a married-family man having the purpose of riding to nearby shops, carrying pillion partner etc., this is best experienced when riding solo.
    Looks & performance :-
    Bs4 and now the bs6 looks very similar except the color and decals. Looking stunning.
    After a couple of tours, I realized the engine, braking performance were great. The enormous grip generated by the stock 'h' rated Metzeler are even more superior. I'd say this bike has got all the best performance components.
    Servicing and maintenance :-
    I was a royal enfield owner previously and i don't feel any difference in maintaining duke 390 in terms of costs and wear n tear parts. I do general service once in 4 months and oil service once in 8 months or 7500 kms whichever earlier. General service cost a 3-digit figure and oil service costs me approx. 2000-3500 depending on the additional components like air filter, brake pads etc.,
    The stock 'h' rated Metzeler lasted in my bike for a straight 15,000 kms (manufacturer claims a mere 8000 kms). I ride my bike in nh and neat tarmac of bangalore so i was able to stretch the life of those tires twice than usual. Replacement tires 'h'-Metzeler (or) 'h'-Michelin (or) 'w'-Apollo will cost you around 11,000 to 13,000 Rs. and they have different life span and ride quality. You may have to explore and find the right choice among these. Chain sprocket costs around 4000 Rs., and mine is still in good condition (at 16000 kms). Regular cleaning and lubricating (every 500 kms or 2 weeks whichever earlier) has stretched the sprocket life as well.
    With all the above, you may have some understanding on the maintenance and costing involved.
    I use my bike only for daily commute to office and occasional touring as said above. I constantly get a mileage of 32 kms/litre. I don't revv up a lot and shift gears at approx. 5500 rpm and maintain uniform speeds averaging 70-85 km/h.
    Pros:-
    High efficient braking and safety
    Reliable engine
    Touring ride quality
    Cornering and excellent tire grip in dry and wet conditions (with Metzeler)
    Cons:-
    Frequent chain clean and lube maintenance
    Less tire life
    High wear n tear of small parts and minor replacement costs (air filter etc.,)
    Suitable for solo only (personally I did not feel this bike comfortable for duo rides)

    1. I always wanted to buy ktm duke 390 feom the day it was launced however i bought it on my 25th birthday.

    2. As we all kniw its a hollegon machine if you want to own this bike as a first bike than this thing is not for you, because it needs experince to ride this machine.

    3. I really loved the way it looks.

    4. Not costly as compared to 400cc category motorcycle also servicing period is very long 7500 so doesn't need much attention.

    5. Pros are power to weight ratio is amazing, very light to flick around cities, ergonomics are good not aggressive nor touring.

    Cons are seat is damn hard you cannot ride with stock seat for more than 100 kms if you ride more than 100kms than i think ktm should honor you as "iron butt"

    engine heats up alot in cities other than this i haven't faced any problem.

    The buying experience was worst.The bike is aggressive, has hell of acceleration, and makes you feel invincible.Duke 390 is really a crowd bait, looks aggressive and ready to race!The first as well as second service cost is around 2.5k maintenance cost is not that higher either.The bike looks of new generation and since it is a crowd bait get ready for some unwanted attention.

    Duke 390 is a best powerful vehicle in 400cc But MRF tyres are too bad in high speed and cornering grip. I have touched 165+ speed in highway. Front-wheel starts wobbling. The wobbling starts at 125 to 130 .. I never expect this issue in ktm. Please changes the tyres and give Michelin or some other brand.

    And bike's look is awesome while i am riding people can't stop looking at me

    And yes make sure your duke's servicing change the oil when your bike reaches on 3000 for maintenance

    Cons are seat is damn hard you cannot ride with stock seat for more than 100 kms if you ride more than 100kms than i think ktm should honor you as "iron butt"

    engine heats up alot in cities other than this i haven't faced any problem.

    The buying experience was worst.The bike is aggressive, has hell of acceleration, and makes you feel invincible.Duke 390 is really a crowd bait, looks aggressive and ready to race!The first as well as second service cost is around 2.5k maintenance cost is not that higher either.The bike looks of new generation and since it is a crowd bait get ready for some unwanted attention.

  • Worst high speed stability

    Duke 390 is a best powerful vehicle in 400cc But MRF tyres are too bad in high speed and cornering grip. I have touched 165+ speed in highway. Front-wheel starts wobbling. The wobbling starts at 125 to 130 .. I never expect this issue in ktm. Please changes the tyres and give Michelin or some other brand.

    My brother owned ktm duke 390 amazing bike with extremely amazing pick up and awesome features and abs also

    Powerful torque

    Brakes are good

    Amazing balance

    And bike's look is awesome while i am riding people can't stop looking at me

    And yes make sure your duke's servicing change the oil when your bike reaches on 3000 for maintenance

    Take care of the bike because it takes a lot of care to maintenance, change the oil go to the service center to make sure everything is good

    i had rode 390 from kurnool(ap) to Bangalore (ka) of 350 kms non stop only a 15 mins break 100 to 120 kmph speed and 150 kmph at empty roads engine is not so heated and the liquid cooling system works faster and quick and the pick up from 130 plus is also awesome and u wont get any vibrations and the mileage obtained is between 18 to 20 on highway.

  • Ktm duke 390 - it's pros and cons. In all it's glory.

    First of all let me start off by saying that i give a big thumbs up to ktm for giving the ktm 390 duke a lot of potential and deserving upgrades. Be it the technical upgrades or mechanical. They've done a pretty good job with that.

    I've ridden the 2016 version and the 2017 version too. The first difference that you'll notice is that the power delivery is a lot smoother and its linearity has also increased up a notch from the previous version. The throttle isn't as jerky as the previous version so you won't have any surprises on that issue.

    The brakes have pretty good stopping power at both the front and the rear end of the bike. And with the slipper clutch you won't have to worry about your rear wheel locking up during a hard downshift. The abs kicks in quickly so you might feel that to be a little interfering.

    The new suspension does a good job at handling bumps and potholes pretty well. I felt that it was a little soft at the rear end so be careful in corners until you're well affirmed with the bike.

    Speaking about the tyres, they have a lower rating than the previous tyres but provide better durability. And if you're uncomfortable with them, you can always change them and get the metzeler m7's which are just extraordinary.

    The handling of the bike is buttery smooth. It can slice through traffic like a hot knife through butter.

    The looks are obviously very appealing and they have this captivating charm to them. The instrument cluster is well, amazing. It has everything you need to know about the bike.

    Overall i'd say that this is a great starter bike for beginner riders. But be careful with the throttle. The bike is very, and i mean very torquey. If you're buying this bike for your daily commute, go for it. It's beautiful. But if you're looking to do a lot of touring and adventure. You might want to look at other options because you're going to feel that wind blast like crazy when you're doing around 120/110 kmph. I haven't done a long ride but i think it'll be comfortable.
