I have been riding the Bajaj Dominar 400 for some time now, and overall, it feels like a solid, practical big bike for Indian roads. The engine has good power and torque, especially on highways. Cruising at 100–120 km/h feels easy and stress-free, and overtaking doesn’t require much effort. The bike feels stable and planted at higher speeds, which gives confidence on long rides.
Ride comfort is good for long distances. The suspension handles bad roads better than expected for a 400cc bike, though in city traffic the weight is clearly noticeable. In heavy traffic or tight parking spaces, it does feel a bit heavy and needs effort. Mileage is decent for this segment; I usually get around 27–29 km/l depending on riding style.

I have been riding this bike from long time, and it has never disappointed me in any condition. Mostly recommended bike for all the tourers who have a minimum budget. Pulsar should remove the 2.0 version of this bike as the TFT display is missing. Should give better lights for a touring setup.

The Dominar looks, rides and feels exactly like you would imagine a bike named “Dominar” would. And that is both good and bad. Let me explain.
Cons first: this bike is BIG. Above 190 kilos, it is on par with the Himalayan 450. The weight is most apparent in start-stop traffic; it is an effort to weave Dominar through traffic. The bike is top-heavy and can easily tip over sideways while doing U-turns if you are not careful (speaking from experience). And do not make the mistake of parking it on a slope as pulling/pushing it backwards will be next to impossible.
Also, Bajaj should invest in better electronics as I have faced an issue once where just pressing the clutch turned off the engine. I understand some amount of cost-cutting for a value-for-money 400cc bike, but electronics are vital. One of my friends also faced a throttle sensor issue for which his Dominar was in service for 3 days.
Now for the positives. The engine is a beautiful beast with a steadily growing roar as you move up the smooth gearbox. The weight of the bike completely disappears at this point as you move like a rocket. In fact, the weight actually becomes a positive once you cross 100kmph because the bike feels very planted. Other naked bikes which are lighter start to feel like they will go airborne, but not the Dominar. The touring edition Dominar comes with all the nice accessories included which is a plus point, although I wish the official lever guards wrapped around the lever completely (they just block the lever from the front and the lever end still hits the ground first if the bike falls over).
I could have easily given the Dominar a 4, but keep in mind that while this 400cc beast was the only affordable and powerful option even 3 years ago, there is competition now. Bajaj themselves have positioned the Pulsar NS400Z as cheaper than the Domi. It uses the same engine and is almost 20 kilos lighter which makes a world of difference if your primary travel is city commuting. And for just 10k more, you can get a Triumph Speed 400 now which delivers the same performance with a more premium feel and service experience. The Dominar is specifically tailored for highway touring, so go for it if that is your jam. But if you would like the convenience of a lighter bike or the satisfaction of a premium brand at a similar or lower price, consider the NS400Z or the Speed.

The purchasing experience was good, the salesperson treated me well and brilliantly explained the bike. Value for money, because its cheap and best in 400cc segment provided with high power of 40 PS, torque of 27 Nm, high-end electrical functions, and all other basic specifications and features
When it comes to the riding experience, I must say it's fabulous, take it to any road or no road she delivers her best. Provides comfort to the rider and also the riding position is best than the rest of other bikes, and also provides comfort to the pillion regardless of speed, bike position in running, high acceleration, etc. This bike is also known as a sports tourer as it delivers very high power and torque, which makes it far much better than any of the bikes upto 400cc except KTM 390cc bikes.
(FYI, Dominar 400 is not a track-ready bike it comes under the category of naked sports, so there is no point of comparing it with fairing body type bikes such as RC390, RR310, CBR250, R1, BMW RR310 or above).
When it comes to looks, she is just like fire, burning up the ways. People get attracted to her muscular body at just a single glance. Of course, she is a head-turner.
Performance, as I have already mentioned above she is the best in 400cc segment (top in Indian manufactured brands). It has been a year now I am riding this bike and have ridden this bike at top speed of 172, she was very stable and she can go max upto 180 on road and 195 on dyno machine. I have encountered severe situations where I had to apply panic braking at high speed, she was always my best friend during those situations and never disappointed me, breaking system of this bike is fabulous, and the dual channel ABS works the best to date. If you are good at handling, then you can control this bike as per your skills at any speed and in any position. This bike can be ridden on any kind of road as it provides comfort and the best shock-absorbing suspension.

I was looking forward to this bike and took a test ride today and believe me, this bike vibrates 3-4 times more than my 10-year-old activa. Even at a lower speed (i.E 40-50km/h) too many vibrations :( if you don't care about engine refinement then go for it. Everything else is perfect i.E. Comfort, even pillion comfort is good. The looks are just incredible and also it has a good presence on road. You are paying almost rs. 2.6 lakhs, can't expect this type of engine in this budget, bajaj should learn from the competition. Vibrations are the only reason I canceled my plan to buy this bike.
