यामाहा MT-03

My journey from dream to own this bike was 5 yrs long..I started following the launch date since 2020. It took quiet some time to hit Indian market.
The launch price tag was very high and I started checking other options in this segment but my heart never could take decision.
A price cut and a GST cut and god made the dream come true.
Its been 20 days since its purchase , every day I ride it and everyday it's a pleasure and joy filled city ride.
The exhaust node is best amoung all 450 Cc segment.
Linear power..no Jerks when u pull the throttle

What Could Be Better
Pricey: In India, it's considered expensive compared to rivals like the KTM 390 Duke or Honda CB300R.
Limited Wind Protection: As a naked bike, wind buffeting at high speeds is expected, though not overly bothersome.
Basic Instrumentation on Older Models: Before 2025, the dash was a monochrome LCD without connectivity—feels dated.
Suspension & Ergonomics for Long Rides: Some report a stiff ride on uneven roads; taller riders may feel cramped.
Throttle Feel: Even on the 2025 model, throttle throw can feel slack—many riders mod this with a Yamaha R6 throttle tube.

fast, easy to handle, but uncomfortable for me. Nice servicing experience.
The engine is butter-smooth—seriously. That twin-cylinder hums nicely around town and sings beautifully on highways.
It’s not scary fast, but it’s fast enough to get your adrenaline pumping without getting you into trouble.
I’ve taken it through city traffic and twisty mountain roads (Shimla backroads are heaven, btw), and the handling is ace. Light chassis, grippy tyres—it just leans naturally.
But if I had one gripe: the throttle’s a bit snatchy in low gears, especially in bumper-to-bumper traffic. You need a careful wrist.
I’m about 5'9", and I fit just right—but I can see taller riders feeling cramped.
Seat’s firm but manageable for short rides. On longer hauls, I do feel the need for breaks.
The handlebar setup is street-friendly, though it could’ve been a bit wider for better leverage.
Do I love the MT-03? Yes.
Would I recommend it to everyone? Not quite.
It’s fun, reliable, and gorgeously engineered, but you’re paying a premium, mostly for exclusivity and brand legacy. If you’re looking for features, there are better options (hello Duke 390). If you’re chasing Yamaha refinement in a streetfighter shell, though, it delivers.
It’s a bike that feels like my bike, not just another commuter. And that means something to me.

The KTM 390 Duke is powered by a 398.63cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 45.3 bhp and a torque of 39 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, the KTM 390 Duke comes up with an anti-locking braking system. This 390 Duke bike weighs 168.3 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 15 liters. Now I am joining the KTM community because I want to buy an MT 15 v3 but it's not available I think you stopped manufacturing MT 15 v3 today I will never buy a Yamaha bike.

The price and product don't match in the slightest. Old design, no features, and no build quality, only the engine is its plus. CBU unit. Who cares. Aprilia RS457 is the better option in every single sense. If the price was set at about 3.8-4.5(on-road), this could've been a thing to consider. All those years of waiting for the R3 and this is what we get. A bike that looks like it's from 2015 with no modern features.

Didn't expect from Yamaha. It's utterly disappointing. 4.5L is a whooping too much for a 300c naked sports bike, with no such first-in-segment features. Looking at its competitors, they still have much to offer. On-road goes around 5.2L. Its sports-faring sibling costs similar. Looking at Yamaha, they've only one model with an attractive sales figure (R15). They never learn and price it way above others. A few years back, R3 bs4 was also launched at this price point only (4L on-road). Even Kawasaki doesn't do like this. :D
