A new Royal Enfield test bike was spotted on public roads. The spy shots reveal a few details about the bike and raise questions about the brand’s upcoming portfolio.
The newly spotted test bike seems to be equipped with an LED headlight with a cowl and a twin-pod instrument console. It gets a split seat, an upright rider triangle with a neutral-set handlebar and rider footpegs, and dual pea-shooter exhausts. The overall design appears to be in line with the current Classic 350. However, it also resonates with the bobber test bike – likely the Shotgun 650 – spotted a while back.
The recently spotted Royal Enfield bike is suspended on USD front forks and dual rear shocks, while the braking hardware includes a single front and rear disc brake with ABS. We expect it to use the same 648cc parallel-twin engine that the current trio (Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, and Super Meteor 650) uses. The output of 48bhp and 52Nm, too, could be similar and it’ll be mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Considering the Classic 350 brings in the maximum revenue, it makes sense for Royal Enfield to bring in a middleweight version. This will offer a sentimental value and give the buyers a wider choice of models to opt from.
