Triumph is scheduled to launch the Street Triple R in India on 11 August. With just under a week left before it is officially revealed, we tell you what to expect from the street naked motorcycle from Hinckley, UK.
Design borrowed from the RS
The Triumph Street Triple R was updated for 2020 a few months ago. And as part of the update, it borrowed the same styling as its more powerful sibling, the Street Triple RS. So, the R sports an aggressively designed pair of full-LED headlamps, redesigned tank shrouds, and a svelte rear section. However, to set itself apart, the Street Triple R is available in Matte Silver Ice and Sapphire Black paint schemes with a red subframe.
Differently tuned 765cc inline-three engine
The Street Triple R uses a 765cc, inline-three cylinder motor similar to the RS that has been derived from the Moto2 engine. Nevertheless, the motor on the Street Triple R produces 116bhp; slightly lesser than the Street Triple RS’s 121bhp output. Torque figures remain the same at 77Nm.
Gets decent electronic aids
Triumph has equipped the Street Triple R with a quickshifter as standard. As for electronic aids, it comes with three ride modes- Road, Sport, and Rain along with traction control. However, to keep costs in check, the manufacturer has replaced the colour TFT dash on the RS for an analogue-digital instrument cluster for the Street Triple R.
Pricing
The Street Triple R will be positioned below the RS which costs Rs 11.33 lakh. We can expect the motorcycle to be priced around Rs 10 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). It will take on the BMW F 900 R, Yamaha MT-09, Kawasaki Z900, KTM 790 Duke, and Ducati Monster 821 in the country.
