- Expected to be priced at Rs 8.5 lakh
- Features updated styling and a BS6-compliant motor
- Will rival the KTM 790 Duke, BMW F 900 R and the likes
Triumph Motorcycles will update its India portfolio with the launch of the new Street Triple R tomorrow. The 2020 Street Triple R will retail at a relatively affordable price tag than the flagship model, the Street Triple RS. The RS variant, which is already available for sale in the country, retails at Rs 11.33 lakh. In comparison, the Street Triple R could arrive near the Rs 8.5 lakh price tag.
In that price range, the new Street Triple R will compete against the likes of BMW F 900 R, Yamaha MT-09, Kawasaki Z900, KTM 790 Duke, and Ducati Monster 821 in the Indian market.
In terms of styling, the 2020 iteration of the motorcycle gets updated design and a BS6-compliant motor. The styling cues include aggressively-styled twin-pod LED headlamps with LED DRLs, redesigned tank shrouds and a sleeker tail section.
Mechanical specifications include a 765cc, inline three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 116bhp of maximum power and 77Nm of peak torque. The same motor on the flagship Street Triple model, for reference, makes 121.36bhp and 77Nm of torque.
Several dealerships across the country have already commenced the pre-bookings for the motorcycle.
